Chicago Deli & Coney Dogs

I enjoyed coming here for a few years when I was looking for good hotdogs-My business is close by and I pass it every day; would normally grab lunch for the guys or send one of them.

One day I came in earlier than usual, 10:15-I ask for a hotdog and am told it’s breakfast until 10:30; so I order breakfast. 20 minutes go by, and I need to get back to the shop, so I told the ma’am: “I need to go, please give my food to someone else. I can’t wait anymore”. I didn’t ask for a refund, or complain, I just had to go. It wasn’t ever “Hurry up”. I didn’t want my money back, because I wanted it to stay in the family business.

“I’m almost done, just a minute” she says, so I wait an extra 3 minutes, and grab my breakfast.

I say “Thanks, I gotta go!”

As I’m leaving out the door and she goes “This isn’t fast food you know!?” I stared at her from the door for about a second and shake my head and leave. I wasn’t upset about waiting, I just had to leave. I had every intent coming back that day for lunch! I loved their hotdogs.

You had my money already-I had my food; the transaction was done and you give me a snide remark on my way out, with my back turned.

I had somewhere more important to be, as much as I wanted to take her bait.

Since then, my shop and I have picked other family businesses for food. I did leave a poor review that day, and took it down since I know they’re a small family business too- maybe she had a bad morning-I get it. However, recently one of our employees went back and had a poor experience with the lady, so I’m here to put my review and what happened during my experience.

The lady that runs the shop in the mornings is miserable, and really reflects poorly on the family and team.

Whoever reads and responds to the google reviews is always extremely defensive-They always ask, “are you sure it’s the right location?, or deflect it.

Everyone else is kind, and welcoming; plus their shop has some cool decorations, especially if you like baseball.

Which sucks because we genuinely liked their food and wanted to support another family business.

-My original review was posted in November, that I took down for sympathy of a small business.
-There was one person in their restaurant when I came in, they were already served.
-My breakfast was not done in 10 minutes, and again, I had no issues just leaving it so it could be given to one of your 3-5 employees I saw that morning, or even a regular.
-Your edited response was kinder, maybe it’ll reflect with future customers and reviews.

The Chicken Salad sandwich and Broccoli n Cheese soup were fantastic! I'm sure the hot dogs are amazing also but I didn't try them today. Chicago based business and since I lived in Chicagoland for 35 years, it was a cool place to start frequenting.

This is a destination spot! Not just something place you eat when you're in the neighborhood but someplace you go out of your way to visit. Chicago dogs made the right way!

Wonderful sandwich shop in Largo! I had the Chicago Club today and it was absolutely incredible! I love the music they play, I feel like I’m rocking out every time I come here. Fast, friendly service.

My husband and I love coming here for lunch! The staff are always polite and personable. The food is made fresh every time and it’s always SO good! We haven’t found a better Chicago dog in this county so that should tell you everything you need to know.

The coney was awsome and the chicago style dog was great . The staff had good conversation . They even played good music .

Excellent hot dog quality. Chicago dog is totally authentic. Many other sandwich options available.

They definitely got the “dog” part correct as the bun tasted like stale bread from last week! Furthermore I’ve had better hotdogs from street vendors!! Nothing at all special about this place!

Food was ok nothing special. But be careful ordering takeout. I did and decided to eat one of my hotdogs while a coworker waited for his order. Was confronted by a worker saying hey bags cost money and I should have said dine in. I don’t see the big deal just odd 🤷🏼‍♂️

10$ for a Ruben that was heated in a microwave. Is that a Chicago thing?pretty sure it's not. If you're gonna charge standard prices have standard food. Dont give it to old chef Mike for 1 min and call it a Ruben. GTFOH
