5/5 — Absolutely Worth the Wait!

After three separate attempts to try J News BBQ, each time finding them closed because they were off spreading the BBQ gospel at various festivals, I finally got my chance today. And let me tell you, it was 1000% worth the wait.

From the first bite, you can taste the care, craft, and passion that goes into this food. The smoky flavor and fall-apart tenderness of both the brisket and pulled pork were truly next level. Every bite was perfectly balanced, rich, flavorful, and deeply satisfying. This isn’t just good BBQ. It’s exceptional!

Also, shoutout to Johnny. He’s a genuine, down-to-earth guy who clearly knows his craft. I can’t wait to come back and try the rest of the menu.

I was at a food truck contest, and J News definitely stood out among the rest, Oxtail and Rice was fantastic, complimentary Rum Runners, family owned, i couldn’t find a complaint even if i was trying to.. Good prices, good people, They got it right man

Ribs and fried chicken and shrimp were delicious. The baked beans were awesome. The juices were so good too. The red velvet cake wasn't sweet and it was dry. The peach cobbler had too much dough, not enough peaches and wasn't sweet enough. Overall I would definitely recommend this bbq spot

Ordered 1/2 rack of ribs and a side for $15. Great deal! Ribs and Baked beans were amazing. Enough for 2. Also ordered the chopped Beef and sliced Brisket. Tender and juicy, full of flavor. Each is more than enough for 2 people. If you are looking for a no frills, walk up order to go, BBQ joint in south St Petersburg, J-News BBQ is a must!

First-time customer, and they did not disappoint!! Take out eatery, the portions were generous, and the taste was amazing. We got the ribs and smoked salmon. Definitely will be returning in the very near future.

I work at a local nonprofit in South St. Pete, and we've had J News BBQ & Grille cater several of our events. The food is always delicious and a hit with our guests! Recently, they catered a large breakfast for 150 guests, and it was absolutely amazing. The portions were generous, the quality was top-notch, and everything was served fresh and flavorful. Their pricing is very reasonable for the quality you receive, and we love supporting a great local small business. Highly recommend J News BBQ & Grille for any event or gathering!

Always a 5 star experience! The menu is packed with tasty options that are both savory and sweet, but I recently enjoyed the chicken and shrimp bowls, and they're fantastically filled with flavor! They come with broccoli and rice thats perfectly seasoned and reasonably priced. I will be back again!

The food is so good! It’s definitely going fill you up and also give you the itis. I always have left overs. There’s a variety of items to choose and the wait isn’t long. The drinks are fire too!

First time coming to this establishment and we got the Sunday rib dinner two sides (cabbage/baked beans)also ordered smothered fried chicken two sides (candied yams/ Mac and cheese) I also got the seafood salad, everything was seasoned perfectly. The seafood salad wow if I knew how good that was going to be I would have got more than one. I haven’t had good soul food like this in awhile ! Friendly employees great service highly recommend and will definitely be back!
