When I use the word exceptional, I really mean it. I’m Indian and my parents had an Indian restaurant so I feel comfortable as an experienced reviewer here. This is the best Indian restaurant in Florida except maybe Bombay Darbar in coconut grove… but I think this place might be better. The service is friendly and relatively fast even though they are cranking out massive numbers of to-go orders at the same time. I love how with the tikka masala they give you an additional cup of the magnificent tikka sauce for dipping. The sauces are the stars here…rich, creamy, so flavorful. The mutter paneer sauce was also excellent and the Chana masala was so on point. Today we ordered the chicken malai kebab as well and loved it. The chicken was so tender with the flavorful yogurt marinade. The chili garlic naan is a must!!! Run, do not walk to Taste of Punjab. Show those colonists how wrong they were.

I visited here having read some positive reviews and 4.7 Star. Please do not trust these reviews and Star ratings anymore. The Food is okay but not at all authentic Indian Food which is supposed to be yummy.I ordered Paneer Makhani but the taste was so mediocre. I'm not sure if they really have a North Indian Chef here.Paneer items are usually a traditional food from the Northern states of India. Even in India, if you are in South India, you rarely find a good and tasty North Indian restaurant there. Likewise, if you are in North India, you would rarely find a restaurant serving tasty South Indian items like Dosa, Idly or Vada. The Paneer Makhani which I ordered was very very mediocre. Also, the Tandoori Roti ordered by me seemed to be a Frozen Tandoori Roti heated in their kitchen. You may find these Tandoori Roti Naan, Garlic Naan in any Indian Grocery frozen food section. Please do not get misled by these Restaurants selling frozen foods that too at exorbitant prices. If someone could taste the frozen Naans or Garlic Naans available in Patel Foods grocery store, they would believe my words and never would order any menus which are typically frozen food. It's high time, we get aware of what an authentic Indian food is and how it's prepared and how it tastes.Last but not the least, when I asked the Server about the difference between the Paneer Butter Masala and Paneer Makhani, she was not aware of these things, probably because she was not an Indian. She was in such a hurry to cover up her shortcomings that she started to note down Paneer Masala. Ultimately, I had to request the intervention of another Server who was well aware of the difference and he informed me that they don't serve Paneer Butter Masala but only Paneer Masala and Paneer Makhani. My dear readers and Google users, please make yourselves aware of the different Indian foods and the traditional way of preparing those. Never visit a Restaurant run by a South Indian to taste the Punjabi Food and likewise be careful when you want to taste a South Indian Food please make sure you don't visit a Restaurant run by a North Indian. But there could always be some rare exceptions. Good luck!!Vegetarian options: Vegetarian Entrees.

I've come to Taste of Punjab consistently for 2 years. The food is absolutely amazing. I would say the best Indian food around the Tampa/St Petersburg area. The service is also great. Very welcoming and personable. Thank you for quality service and food. I'll definitely be coming back next time I'm in the US.

We ordered the Butter Chicken and the Lamb Korma. Papads, and butter Naan. They were out of the large Taj Mahal beer. The vibe of this restaurant is a bit odd. It’s very minimalist. Nothing we saw of the decor led you to think you were in an Indian restaurant so it did live up to the title of “bistro”. Absent were any smells of curry or spices. The sauces seemed to be fairly generic and not a lot of spice. You can select your sauce and then add whatever protein you want. What I did like was the chicken. It was actual cut pieces of chicken and not the usual cubed frozen chicken many restaurants serve. It was very tender. The butter naan was saturated in ghee or butter I wasn’t sure and difficult to eat as it was too chewy. The lamb korma was good. At the end when the bill came the waiter told us that the tip should be cash as the credit card reader wasn’t working for tips. I have no idea what that was about but it was odd. We don’t travel with cash so I told him I can only do credit card and he said ok. Odd.
