We’re here in Marathon on our honeymoon and made a stop at The Hideaway Café — a place we’ve been to before and always look forward to. As expected, the food was absolutely delicious. Every dish was cooked perfectly, and the flavors were spot-on. It’s one of those rare places where you know, every time you come, it’s going to be just as good as you remember — if not better.
The atmosphere is cozy and romantic, with that special tucked-away charm that makes you feel like you’ve stumbled upon a secret spot. The service was warm and personal — we felt truly taken care of. They even surprised us with a bottle of wine and dessert for our honeymoon, which was such a thoughtful touch and made our night even more memorable.
If you’re in the Keys and looking for a consistently amazing meal with a touch of local magic, this is the place.

We stayed at the Rainbow In while we were in Marathon and we had complimentary breakfast included with. The pancakes were the best!! We also ate dinner there on our last night. Miss Freda's cooking is amazing and the atmosphere was so homey and nostalgic. The best I've had while I've been here. I'm not one to write reviews but with food and service like this i couldn't help it.

This is the best restaurant in the keys. I would argue the entire state, if you are lucky enough to enjoy chef Freda’s food, it will leave you satisfied and delighted.

We had the best dinner last night at the hideaway cafe. Chef Freda was very accommodating and the food was beyond delicious. It was a perfect date night dinner from start to finish. First, we sat on the patio where the view was amazing at sunset. Picture perfect. They have a huge selection of wine by the glass and bottle. Next, the most amazing homemade bread was brought to our table with a starter of escargot, which was perfectly cooked. The hubby ordered filet mignon and I had the seafood medley, which both were cooked to perfection and literally melt in your mouth good. The service was amazing. Our waiter was great and offered many suggestions. We ordered dessert to go, which was raspberry key lime sorbet and chocolate molten lava cake which both were amazing. If you want ambiance, amazing food, and great service, this is your place. It was pretty busy so I would suggest making a reservation. I personally loved this place and will be back.

We came here on a whim for our family vacation. We were BLOWN away. The food was only eclipsed by Freda (the owner and chef). Every course was incredible with no food left on a plate, with our kids included. Freda waited on us, showed us the love she cooks her food with, and took such wonderful care of our party of 14. It was truly so amazing, we went back 2 nights later and it was just as perfect as the first time. Anyone coming to Marathon or the Keys needs to visit!!

This restaurant was once a gem. This entire property needs an overhaul. The food was not “fine dining”. I’m sad about this because We returned expecting a different experience. So much for a birthday dinner. I would love to get Gordon Ramsey to arrive for a restaurant make over. The bathrooms were absolutely disgusting! The Chef is passionate and needs support! I got a peek into the kitchen- it needs a deep cleaning and a fresh start. Too many options in Marathon. Now for this restaurant to exist if something doesn’t change!

My wife rarely awards a five-star rating to any restaurant, but she has made an exception for The Hideaway Cafe. Get ready for a delightful and unexpected culinary adventure. The food is exquisite, complemented by breathtaking ocean views. Every time we visit the Keys, we make it a priority to stop by this hidden treasure. We've dined there four times and have no plans of stopping. Anyone who rates this dining experience lower than five stars should probably stick to McDonald's, as they clearly lack an appreciation for exceptional cuisine.
