Oh my Goodness! I ordered the green curry chicken and mean angels to go. Best curry I’ve had besides my own! I usually go to another Thai restaurant but Jao Thai might just be my new fave!

We love this place and need to visit more often. The food is always amazing!
Kid-friendliness: Brought my 4 year old sushi fan along last visit and ordered her sushi a la carte, they brought her chopsticks fashioned with a rubber band that allowed her to “eat like mommy”, her day was made!

A Hidden Gem for Sushi Lovers! Jao Thai Kitchen in Melbourne is a surprising find for those seeking authentic Thai cuisine and, unexpectedly, delicious sushi. While their Thai dishes have garnered praise, it's their sushi offerings that have been quietly impressing locals like me and visitors alike. The sushi menu is a delightful blend of classic rolls and creative combinations. The fish is consistently fresh, and the rice is perfectly cooked, providing a satisfying base for the flavorful toppings. Whether you're a fan of traditional rolls like the California roll or crave something more adventurous, like the spicy tuna roll or the dragon roll, you're sure to find something to satisfy your taste buds. One of the highlightsbis the attention to detail in the presentation. Each roll is beautifully arranged and garnished, making it a feast for the eyes as well as the palate. The combination of fresh ingredients, skillful preparation, and artful presentation makes every bite a memorable experience. While not a dedicated sushi restaurant, their sushi offerings are a hidden gem worth discovering. If you're in Melbourne and looking for a delicious and affordable sushi option, be sure to give Jao Thai Kitchen a try. You may be surprised by the quality and creativity of their sushi offerings.

You may be as suspicious of places that specialize in two types of food, as I am. And you'd be right, as most all of them suck. And for some odd reason, Melbourne is rife with Thai / sushi combo joints. You can sit out front and be as sad for the people exiting this place. Because, in your heart, you know they have had no good example of either cuisine.

jao Thai is an absolute gem in Melbourne! The moment you step inside, you're transported to the heart of Thailand. The authentic flavors and vibrant atmosphere make for an unforgettable dining experience.
From the start, the service was impeccable. I sat at the sushi Bar and both chefs were friendly, knowledgeable and offered great recommendations.I started with the salmon belly sushi - perfection! For our main course, I tried the chirashi bursting with flavor and prepare and presented with perfection. The portions were generous, and I couldn't resist ordering the mango sticky rice for dessert - it was the perfect ending to our meal.
If you're craving authentic Thai cuisine, Jao Thai is a must-visit. You won't be disappointed!

Excellent food and service. Best basil spicy rice I’ve ever had. Decor is nice with cozy atmosphere. Highly recommended!!!
I had an absolutely fantastic meal here. The sushi was super tasty and very fresh. The poke bowl was fantastic, and the other dishes on the table also looked delicious. The service is great, friendly, and it’s nice that there aren’t too many screens on the walls. It still feels like a cozy restaurant. All in all, highly recommended.

Egg drop soup was good. The beef in my entree was dry and very chewy. $30 for two lunch specials. The music was a bit weird for a restaurant along with soap operas on mute on the tv. I would still come back and try a different entree though.
