I went with my non English speaker mom for her birthday to have a lovely lunch with the family. The lady in the register started talking to her and my mom said “I’m sorry I don’t speak english” the lady said “I don’t care I’m going to say it anyway” and proceeded to ask if none of us spoke English. The comment was harmful and rude. It was an awkward and unnecessary moment. We left immediately.
