Worst service. Waitress took 20 minutes to get us menus, after we ordered told us the food wasn't available. Then I asked to cancel bc we are on a time crunch. The waitress then asked that I looked pissed bc the food wasn't available. At that point I couldn't feel less welcome in an establishment. Left hungry and annoyed enough to come to google

Mainstreet Pub in Melbourne has long enjoyed a loyal local following, but a recent weekend lunch visit offered fresh confirmation of why this unassuming establishment continues to endure. What began as a casual family outing—spurred by a brother-in-law’s long-standing curiosity—quickly turned into a memorable meal anchored by confident service and unexpectedly standout cooking. The menu’s Western New York sensibilities will feel instantly familiar to anyone with roots in Buffalo or Rochester, which made it an especially welcome sight for my wife’s family, all originally from that region. The restaurant’s longtime server, who appears to have been part of the team since its early days, proved to be one of its strongest assets. Her command of the menu, ability to steer guests toward the right selections, and genuine hospitality set the tone for the afternoon. Ambience at Mainstreet Pub is functional rather than transportive—straightforward, pub-appropriate, and comfortable, though not particularly noteworthy. But diners do not come here for aesthetic immersion. They come for the food, and on that front the kitchen more than delivers. Across the table, every entrée arrived well-executed, but one item stood out with unmistakable authority: the Kummelweck sandwich. A proper Beef on Weck is something of a regional litmus test, and Mainstreet Pub’s version is exceptional. The beef is tender and deeply flavorful, the jus balanced, and the kummelweck roll perfectly salted and caraway-studded. As someone who is not a Buffalo native, I offer this praise without hometown bias: it is the best Beef on Weck I have tasted outside Western New York. Paired with a well-curated draft beer selection, it embodies exactly what a pub specialty should be—unpretentious, satisfying, and executed with pride. In a dining landscape where many “pubs” lean heavily on ambience while delivering middling food, Mainstreet Pub reverses the equation. The culinary output is the reason to visit, and it is compelling enough to make the trip worthwhile. For travelers passing through Melbourne—or locals who have overlooked it—this is a lunch stop well worth seeking out. Highly recommended.

Great atmosphere and location in downtown area. Easy walking distance to local hotels. I tried the Jameson Orange Crush and Cuban sandwich and both were fantastic.
