This is my favorite place in downtown melbourne. It is a more refined and sophisticated atmosphere, something which is hard to find. They are so friendly so expect good conversation and a tour of the place if it is your first time there. Extensive wine list and craft brews, live jazz and piano music. 5 stars. it is essentially a gallery as well as a bar, all the artwork is beautiful to admire. Great for date nights
We went to The Living Room to hear our friend, entertainer Don Alexander, and loved the entire evening. We tried both the Mediterranean and Fruits of Downtown flatbreads, and both were delicious. Our friends were impressed that they had a selection of the New Zealand wines that they prefer.
Live music (DJ) of the rave/dance variety tackled this beautiful art gallery with a really nice bar scene. Very comfortable for a social gathering, date or just to grab a glass of wine and look at some really nice art.
super chill place to hang out and enjoy time with friends, admire some amazing art and always some good music! Great food as well and love the wine list!
Love the atmosphere and ambiance. Wed night jazz is a must if you want a grown folk vibe
I really enjoyed! The food was delicious and a large wine selection. Music was fantastic!
Great atmosphere and service. Fun loving people and environment. Eli is an absolute joy to be around. Great time for a night out
This place has so much potential but unless the owner doesn't mind losing money I don't think it is going to survive. It used to be you couldn't find a seat on a Friday or Saturday night but lately there are more and more empty seats. We wouldn't mind the high prices if the service was great but the service can be so bad that it just makes you want to leave. We went last night with a party of 5 and very few people there but it took about 20 minutes before we all had our wine. The music was great and the wine and flat bread very good. A few weeks ago our server essentially stopped waiting on us to focus on a table of people who were obviously her friends. The owner needs to hire more experienced servers or get the existing servers some training.
This was my first time at The Living Room and I brought my mother and a local business owner for their first times as well. What a horrible mistake! While the entertainment by Sarah D was phenomenal and the concept is good, the rest of the experience at The Living Room was beyond upsetting. Not only were the tables and chairs uncomfortable, but the business owner that I brought had asked for 3 different wines off the menu that were “out of stock†before she asked for a wine that was available. Pretty pathetic for a WINE BAR. Not to mention the few menus that were circulating around our table had stains and runny ink from people spilling on the paper menu. The women's bathroom had multiple spider webs around and the spray bottle of bleach was sat on the counter next to the paper towels. I was there for 3 hours and was NEVER asked whether I wanted a refill or another drink. The only refill I got only happened because I had to flag down the waitress as she was serving another table nearby. I watched her walk past our table numerous times with completely empty glasses and didn't even ask if we wanted another, let alone clear the glasses if we would've been done. I would have had more than two glasses of wine if I would've been able to locate my waitress or if she would've been able to remember what I asked her for. She forgot 3 different times what we had asked for and didn't attempt to write any requests down. I honestly believe I have never had worse service is my life. I am beyond disappointed at my experience and will not be attending for another try.
beautiful and comfortable, plus great staff.

This place has potential, however we were let down so badly that we left in a hurry. Wine selection, location, prices, and decor all seemed good. The band playing was quite loud. We expected more of an artsy vibe, but ended up with a dive bar feel. The service was the worst part. Two servers greeted us when we were seated, but then never returned to check on us. We managed to get the attention of one server to place an order for two more glasses of wine, then we watched her walk away and promptly forget our order. After 20 minutes of watching her wander around looking lost, we had to approach the bar to pay just so we could leave. High hopes were crushed by reality at this venue.
Wasn't impressed. For whatever reason, they had two different kinds of music playing; One person at the piano, and then a horribly tacky smooth jazz and casual bongos combinations that even Satan himself would have cringed at. Wound up going to a bar to avoid a brewing headache.
Favorite place downtown historic Melbourne to watch artists create beautiful artwork live every Tuesday evening while listening to great local bands!! Must come visit this new venue!
The place had a band the night we visited. It wasn't crowded and that's what I liked about the place. A perfect place for a glass of wine. We saw the place on Saturday, before Easter, and it was laid-back as it could be. They have paintings, art, original furniture and a dog! The servers weren't in a rush either.
Visited the living room tonight in downtown Melbourne. What a treat! The artwork, the bartender, the band, wow! Everyone introduced themselves, we got a first hand tour of the artwork and met one of the artists/poets Kyle who has muscular dystrophy and still is actively artistic within the place. The bartender was incredible and explained his future plans for the wine lists to us and went into great detail about what we were served. This is not a restaurant but man was is an excellent time. Wanted to share. Please support this local business. On Tuesday nights you can even watch the owner do live paintings! Fantastic place. Highly recommend between the drinks, the music, and the friendly staff.
