The Roots Restaurant Tavern

Roots Restaurant Tavern was absolutely wonderful! They were incredibly accommodating while hosting a large group from the Brevard County Women Social Club, and everything from start to finish was phenomenal. The service was outstanding, the food was delicious, and the overall experience exceeded our expectations. We highly recommend supporting this amazing small business—especially for group gatherings. We’re already looking forward to coming back and hosting another fun event here. Thank you, thank you, thank you to the entire Roots Restaurant Tavern team! (And yes, we were so busy enjoying the food, drinks, and great company that we forgot to take photos—but that alone says it all!)

The chicken and waffles was to die for! The cheesy grits were also amazing. We are new to the area and this is my new favorite breakfast spot.

Cafe is cute and charming, we’re debating going back to try very different options, hoping today was. One off. My daughter ordered avocado toast which she said was bland with no seasoning other than a few pepper flakes and the egg. I asked before ordering the hash if it was made in house and told it was- however it was tinned (you know the taste!). The eggs were overcooked as well, and the potatoes had no flavor. We were never asked how the food was or checked in on between receiving breakfast and the check.

We intended to have brunch at several other places, but they were all packed with long waits. We found this place just around the corner and were delighted with good service and delicious food. My French Toast was perfect and my hubby loved the twist on Eggs Benedict (salmon and potato pancakes). Even better than all that? The coffee-it was SO good!

I found Roots Restaurant by chance when walking through Melbourne on my one night stop. Warm welcome and rapid service. Comfort food. Vegetarian choices. Reasonable prices. Tasty and large portion. Choice of side dishes. Central in down town Melbourne. There are lots of options nearby but did not regret my random pick.

When we first started to come to Roots six months ago, the first few times were excellent. We had great food and great conversation with the owner and it was a very pleasant experience. The next three times including this particular day were not good. The service lacked in attention and the food lacked in quality. This morning. I asked for a simple breakfast sandwich well done egg, toasted English muffin with cheddar cheese and bacon, not only did our breakfast take a really long time and there wasn’t that many people here so not sure why that was, the server never came out to give us any information, I had to go in and ask where our breakfast was. When we received it, my English muffin was grilled, not toasted as I specified, and my egg was very runny and there was maybe one little teeny piece of cheddar cheese. The server never came out to see how our food was. My boyfriend’s sandwich was good and their grits were good. However, the lack of attention and lack of quality in the last few times and no sign of the owner have resulted in our never wanting to go back there again, sorry Roots, you blew it.

Very nice place to sit down and have a good home cooked meal. Staff was very friendly.

Excellent food! Big portions. Great service. Their sign says "Worth the wait" And it is. Breakfast is the best meal of the day. We will be back.

I wanted to try something new so did a Google search and found this place with a solid rating and many reviews. It was easy to find and at 9:30 AM on this Thursday it was not busy. The menu has many mouth watering breakfast plates but just wanted basic bacon and eggs. I was told my choice of tomatoes, potatoes and something else and that grits would be extra. The server confirmed that grits costs them more. In any case I ordered grits. They were not good. Watery and not much taste but quantity wasn't lacking. When I let the server know she immediately took the upcharge for grits off the bill. Bacon was awesome and scrambled eggs were scrambled eggs. English muffin good.
I appreciate the quick decision to remove the grits from my bill and do plan on returning to try a few other menu items.
