The food here was absolutely delicious — easily the highlight of the evening. Unfortunately, the service and overall experience left much to be desired.

We were seated at a round table in the far right corner of the restaurant, directly next to the bus station. Throughout the meal, waiters and bussers were constantly squeezing past us, bumping into our chairs and even into me several times while trying to access their station. There were no apologies, and our view of the show was repeatedly blocked as they came in and out carrying dirty dishes.

When I brought this to the manager’s attention and suggested that a table shouldn’t be placed so close to the bus station, his response was indifferent. He didn’t come over to the table, nor did he offer an apology or any sort of gesture to make up for the disruption — I had to approach him myself. I also shared my concerns with our server, who replied, “It’s not my fault,” without any empathy.

While the kitchen clearly puts care and talent into the food, the lack of care from the service staff and management made for a frustrating dining experience. It’s unfortunate, because with attentive service and better seating management, this could have been an excellent evening.

Had an amazing night at Jaya! Big thanks to Irfan for giving us exceptional service from start to finish—attentive, genuine, and made sure we had everything we needed. The host even picked up from the reservation that it was my partner’s birthday, which was such a thoughtful touch. The octopus was out of this world, easily the best we’ve had in years, and the sushi was unbelievably fresh and delicious.

We had an amazing experience at Jaya! Our server Irfan gave us the best customer service—he was attentive, friendly, and made the night extra special. The host noticed from my reservation that it was my birthday, which made me so happy. The food was incredible—the octopus was the best I’ve tasted in a long time, and the sushi was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The vibes were nice overall; my only small wish is that the DJ wouldn’t cut songs halfway through, but everything else was perfect. Highly recommend for a memorable night out!

Attended this establishment for a friend’s birthday. The Miami spice menu for $45 was not seafood allergy friendly. Only edible dished were the chicken wings and chicken tikka. I ordered the Jaya fried rice with chicken and it tasted good. The service was friendly but very slow!!!!!! We were a party of 8 and sat at 7 but didn’t receive our desert until 10:30. To cut the cake was $14 and staff does not sing happy birthday.

Such a shame that such a beautiful restaurant is being destroyed with poor service and horrible management. I came to Jaya for my birthday this past week and the service was subpar in many ways - it took them at least 45 min to take our drink order; by the time we got our drinks and were ready to order, the server told us the kitchen was closing so he would be putting all our food orders in - with no notice of the kitchen closing at all; half of our food did not come out bc he neglected to put the order in on time; to try to rectify the situation, they brought out some fried rice…. Fried rice is not even on the menu! It was some day old rice in a tablespoon of soy sauce. As someone who made the reservation weeks in advance with the expectation of good food and a good atmosphere, this was extremely insulting to my time, effort and pre-planning.

On top of that, it was my birthday dinner.. other tables celebrating birthdays got a cute plate of macaroons… why did this man bring out a fruit platter with a candle in it…. FRUIT PLATTER? It looked fresh off the shelf from the precut fruit section at the grocery store.

The experience was so poor we wanted to speak to a manager. The server was so nervous about a manager coming over he was almost on the verge of tears.. to me, it appears to be a toxic work environment. This is underscored by the interaction that we had with a manager who finally came to our table, and can only be described as arrogant, rude and dismissive. He denied he knew anything about the issues our table had (though he referenced the free fruit plate from Publix and other things from our conversation with the server), he argued with our group about how they gave us fruit and off-menu fried rice so we should be happy; and when we laughed at him for his ridiculous rebuttal, he accused us of yelling at him before walking away mid sentence!

I can’t begin to say how unprofessional the whole experience was. Save yourself the frustration and go to any of the beautiful restaurants in Miami that are committed to good service, hospitality and good food. I would never recommend anyone to go to this restaurant.

We left Jaya hungry.

We fumbled upon Jaya at Setai, nestled within Miami Beach is this amazing restaurant based within a 5 star hotel
The ambience, food and experience was beyond expected.
We’ve had the Indian Thali for mains and a mix of Asian starters, which was class.
Ambience inside was stunning, included 2 acrobatics acts that was mesmerising
If you are into Pan Asian food and want to try a night of lux then highly recommended

Upon arrival, staff were arguing. Secondly, in the space of 5 minutes we were asked 2/3 times by staff to order drinks as if they wanted us to spend more money. Thirdly, when food arrived it arrived cold. The only high point to this place was the dancers. Lastly, when I arrived back home after eating only starters at this restaurant I had food poisoning. Would avoid this restaurant at all costs.

Disappointing and Discriminatory Experience

I had one of the most disheartening experiences at Jaya during what was supposed to be a special birthday celebration. Upon checking in, I was met with extreme rudeness from the manager on duty, Natalia. She told me I was not dressed appropriately and insisted I put on and button my blazer, which had simply been draped over my shoulders. This interaction felt less about a dress code and more about profiling.

What made this worse was that once inside, I noticed several other guests wearing revealing outfits—tank tops, net skirts, and more—none of whom were stopped or reprimanded. Meanwhile, I was fully covered in tights, a long-sleeve turtleneck shirt, and heels.

Even after being seated, I was made to feel unwelcome. Natalia continued to glance over at our table as though we didn’t belong, and we were seated by the exit door, which further diminished the experience.

This was not only disappointing—it was humiliating. No one should be made to feel out of place or judged based on appearance, especially at an establishment that claims to offer luxury and hospitality. I will not return and would caution others, especially people of color, to be mindful of the treatment they may receive.

I’ve been here plenty of times with my melanin recessive friends and the treatment was top of the line.

However, tonight on my friends birthday we walk in and the manager Natalia (Melanated) tells her we have a dress code and cannot come in.

My friend had on a maroon long sleeve and long pants half sheer at the bottom and half sheer at the top with a black blazer over her shoulders. Natalia’s delivery and disregard for human etiquette was rude and tasteless on her birthday was just a vibe killer.

Women were walking in with short dresses, sheer pants breast out, back out showing allot of skin so to say the least some rules don’t apply for the majority.

Disappointed she had this experience.

I visited for the brunch buffet and it was the best brunch I've ever experienced from the food selection, to the service to the ambiance. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in Miami.

The Panang Curry was ridiculously salty and inedible. The pad Thai no longer comes with veggies and has no spice. I asked our waiter for hot sauce but she took 15 mins to get it, but had the time to clean other tables and take some others before getting us the hot sauce. And they automatically charge you 20% gratuity. Mind you, we waited 10 minutes to get the to-go box we requested, another 10 mins to get the check, another 10 to get my card back when there were hardly any guests left eating. It’s like the guaranteed tip makes servers less attentive. Anyways, we had come back to Jaya after 3 years because we remembered how good their panang curry use to be (the best we ever had), but sadly we found out tonight that it’s no longer the same.

I was really disappointed with my recent visit to Jaya. I ordered the panang curry, which turned out to be overwhelmingly salty and hard to enjoy. Unfortunately, the service didn’t make up for the lackluster food. Our waitress seemed more focused on chatting with other coworkers and clearing up tables where guests had left than attending to my table, from waiting a long time to have our bill collected to receiving a condiment until the end once food had cooled down that was originally requested when the food first arrived. We could see the worker just chatting with her coworker in front of us.
It’s disheartening because we remember years ago the food and service at Jaya were exceptional, which made the experience worth the price. This time, it felt overpriced for what we received, especially with a 20% service charge automatically added to the bill despite inattentive service.

⭐ 1 Star. “Jaya at The Setai: Luxury Dining… on a Budget of Patience 🥢💸😑”

Ah, Jaya. The kind of place you go to when you want to feel glamorous, eat tiny food, and wonder if you accidentally joined a very expensive fasting retreat. 💃🍷✨

The Arrival:
You walk through the gorgeous lobby of The Setai thinking, Wow, I’ve made it in life. By the time you’re seated, you realize you’ve only made it into a very expensive waiting room with chopsticks. 🪑⏳

The Service:
Our server glided over like a swan — elegant, beautiful… and completely uninterested in us. 🦢😐 We were invisible unless it was time to refill the water, which, by the way, tasted like it came from the tears of people who got the bill. 💧💸

The Food:
Asian fusion, they say. Yes — fused together with confusion. 🤔🍜

My sushi roll was the size of a chapstick and somehow cost more than my electric bill. 🥢💵

The curry tasted like someone whispered “spice” into the pot and then walked away. 🌶️🚶‍♂️

And the duck? Let’s just say it had clearly lived a stressful life. 🦆💀

The Atmosphere:
Live DJ in the background, thumping music like we were in a Tokyo nightclub at 2 a.m. — perfect for when you’re trying to discuss whether to sell your kidney to pay for dinner. 🎶🪙

The Bill:
When it arrived, I checked for typos. Nope. That really was the price. 💳😳 My wallet is now in therapy. 🛋️💔

Final Audit:
🍣 Sushi: Adorable. Like a hamster’s lunch. 🐹
🍛 Curry: Beige in both color and personality.
💁 Service: Picture-perfect indifference.
💸 Value: If luxury had a scammer cousin.

Conclusion:
If you want to drop a small fortune for food you’ll forget before you get home, with a side of Miami Beach attitude and nightclub decibels, Jaya’s your spot. Otherwise, save your money and go somewhere that serves food for actual humans. 🥲🍽️
