My two sisters and I went in on a Thursday at 6:15 with no reservations. We were warmly welcomed at the host stand and told they could seat us at the bar. We asked the host who seated us what his favorite dishes are and he recommended the creamy polenta appetizer and the pork chop. We were then greeted at the bar by Maria who was friendly and extremely helpful. She recommended a few wines and dishes and we settled on the polenta appetizer, a salad to share then we shared the spaghetti...
We loved everything about our dinner date at Macchialina. The food, the service, the wine selection, the ambiance. It is simply a top restaurant serving really tasty authentic Italian food. What else can be said!
Unlike my previous visit, this one was disappointing. While the menu does mention shallots, the normally creamy texture that comes from emulsified cheese and the distinctive pepper aroma were replaced by a dominant onion taste. The fish also tasted mostly of onion and was underwhelming — it came with only one side of the fish and no side dish. The two thin slices of mushroom and a couple of tiny pieces of mini zucchini were more of a garnish, although the menu made it sound...
