Pamplemousse on the Bay

The food was really not good and it was expensive for what it is (but not out of line for MB). The view is terrific and the restaurant had blankets available on a rare Miami chilly evening. We started with several bites/appetizers and wanted to share a main. A surprising number of bites were fried - even things you wouldn’t expect, like Octopus. I don’t recommend it. The waitress told us the fish entree was 12 oz. It was maybe half of that and it tasted old. The salad was fresh but had no dressing at all. I won’t be returning.

We had a mixed experience at the restaurant. On the plus side, the food was quite good—we had the skirt steak, which was delicious, although the chimichurri was a bit underwhelming. The service started off well, when we finally got a server, waited for water for a while, but things got awkward when the server realized she didn’t know how the Groupon worked, as the manager hadn’t informed her that the restaurant was offering them. We had actually called ahead about the Groupon, but they still seemed unprepared, which made the experience uncomfortable, and we felt a bit unwelcome.

Another downside was the $50 automatic service charge, which felt excessive given the short amount of time we were there. Plus, the only wine option for the Groupon was white. Overall, I don’t think they should be offering Groupons, as it made the entire experience a bit messy and awkward.

That said, the friendliness of the service and the quality of the food did help redeem the situation somewhat, and the hostess was lovely. However, the music was way too loud for 8:30 pm.

My new favorite spot. I love that it’s very low key and the sunset is amazing. I’m a local here, so it’s nice to experience a sense of hospitality and warmth without feeling like a number. We were warmly greeted by Robin and it definitely sets the tone for our experience. Definitely will frequent this place often.

Very disappointing as we were over there with the entire family and the restaurant were closed
