Playa Cafe delivers authentic Latin American diner food, in the style of "good eats" instead of "fine Latin cuisine creations". For the earthy and real Latin american style of home cooking, this was the spot that nailed it. We were two of six tourists who came through during the hour that we spent there. The rest were locals, Miami Dade Police on break, blue collar workers who keep South Beach in good repair and some local shopkeepers. This is truly where the local population goes for Cento-Americano comfort food. If the real and earthy diner experience is what one seeks, this place delivers the goods.

Good food loved by local and good service and good prices,I got a good breakfast for about $11 ,that was great compares to the other over priced places close and around the beach. The place is small, I ate there,it can get busy,but luckily for me and my friends everybody was leaving when we got there,you can order and take home, they are fast, I think it took 10 minutes or so,since we placed our order and got our food ready.👌

If you want to eat good food and not pay for overpriced food and atmosphere, this is the place.
That said, I wasn’t thrilled about the attempt to quietly slip in the 15% service charge while still suggesting a 15–20% tip on top. It’s standard Miami trickery, so I don’t fault them more than the system itself, but it does leave a bad taste after an otherwise good meal.

Bartender had great customer service service! Great cocktails! Welcoming in Miami Beach open until 5Am! Highly recommended! We Was able to play our own music at liking! I refer this spot every time you come to Miami! Also they have a pool table and karaoke!

I wanted authentic Cuban food and this place delivered. It had a better selection at half the price. I ate there two days in a row. I'd eat there tomorrow, but I have too many leftovers already.

Bellman at our hotel recommend this restaurant. Small, nothing fancy. We sat at the counter. We were handed menus, but there are pictures with numbers of each dish on the walls. We both ordered a Cuban Sandwich, with pickles and mustard. Combo includes fries and a soft drink. We should have shared 1 order! Huge, delicious sandwich! Others food looked just as great! We walked back to our Hotel feeling full, and both could not finish all our food. What a local treat!!! Did I mention combo was about $13!!!

Worse service ever!! If you expect ANY kind of competent staff....do not go here! This was my worse experience at a cafeteria so far. I placed an order and paid for the order. Once received, I was given something that I did NOT order. I brought it to the attention of the waitress that took the order. She then explained that she took the wrong order. I asked her to fix the order then. She told me she couldn't. I then also told her that the side order was raw. She told me that it was all they had. I told her to replace the side order with another item. She told me she couldn't do that either. I then was supposed to eat an item that I did not order and eat a raw side dish too!!! How can this be possible?? I still do not understand how this could happen? I left the order UNTOUCHED and walk away. They were unwilling to help or understand the situation. They took not accountability or ownership for delivering the wrong order and a raw side item. They could have corrected the order, replace the side dish or adjust the bill. They did NOTHING, not even an apology. I had to walk away and pay for an untouched dinner. Embarrassing! Shameful! Substandard! Horrible! DO NOT EAT HERE! POOR SERVICE! BAD STAFF! NO EMPATHY! NO UNDERSTANDING!

Amazing food. I will go back for more. Plantains were delicious. Also enjoyed the baleada. Favorite breakfast place for a typical Central American experience. They are also vey friendly.

From all the places we ate in Miami, this was easily the best. The food was solid, the staff friendly, and—most importantly—the prices actually reasonable. No frills or fancy décor, but it doesn’t need it. If you’re price-conscious and want to avoid the usual tourist traps, it’s worth a stop.
