Do not let someone you care about stay at the Shelbourne and by all means avoid it yourself. "Location, location, location" might be a classic real estate mantra but no location justifies a staff so poorly educated that they can say "f**k you, go to hell, I don't give a damn" to your face and in front of hotel security who is looking like he does not want to be there at all. I should have just turned and left when they did not have our reservation when we arrived. Our flight got in early and I’d called earlier to see what the chances were of an early check in. The said the only way to guarantee it was to book the night before which I did- to avoid any unpleasant confusion after a 9 hour flight. When they finally did find the reservation it had been cancelled because we didn’t arrive in time. So much for book the night before to avoid drama. We finally got into our room. It was fine. It was also never serviced though we asked several times a day and were assured they’d take care of it. One day the bed was made, the towels were left on the floor, the trash cans were not emptied but there WERE new miniature soaps in front of the TV so we knew they’d been there. The next day included the aforementioned verbal attack at the pool and a continuation of the maid service follies. This time after numerous requests someone showed up at our door around 10:00 p.m. with an enormous stack of towels. Really weird definition of servicing a room. I heard they were closing for renovation the day after we left so perhaps we just got pissed on on the way out by employees who’d been treated badly. That’s the only reason I’m not naming names. no idea the line about then closing for upgrades is true or not but I shan’t be finding out. Nothing on that location names Shelbourne will ever overcome the fetid stink of an experience they provided us.
This hotel cancelled our reservation two weeks before we were due to stay. I am on vacation already travelling around the US and have to now trawl through hotels to find a suitable replacement. This is not ok. I only booked this hotel three weeks ago. Did you really not know that you were going to close the whole hotel then? Very, very unprofessional.
Nice hotel overall we had a king-size bed in what had to be the tiniest room I have ever stayed in any hotel, the room did not look like the picture no chairs in the room, no microwave and a 12inch tv, they take out a resort fee out your deposit what resort it's not a resort when we book our hotel it said the resort fee was included, make sure they tell you what's coming out of the deposit.
This is a piss poor hotel! I booked a room with a city view. When I arrived I was told there were no more rooms so I was upgraded to a jr. suite. What a joke! Suite my a*** It was a regular room with a balcony. There were a bunch of bushes so there was no view. Every time we ate out we had to throw our food away because there was no microwave in the room. The room was old and musty. Smelled like mold. The maids did not clean until we asked. We had to beg for clean towels daily in person. The front desk does not answer the phones. They have the worst c7stomer service ever! If you want luxury and cleanliness don't stay here. Thw only good thing was beach access.
Really nice hotel in a great location. It’s really central and a close walk to everything. The customer service is the best part. Special shout out to Delisa and Oscar! The pool is great and the resort is a nice touch. Highly recommend.
As always my stay was absolutely amazing from the vibe of the hotel to the staff….. Big shout out to Delisa who made the stay even more great by providing hi quality EXCELLENT customer service with her a suggestions and attention. She is VERY pleasant and kind!!!
We stay at the Shelborne twice a year, and thanks to Delisa its 5 star each and every time! We feel home as soon as we see her at the desk. She is one of our main reasons we always go back. We love the Shelborne as a property always on point but, from getting to know the amazing staff for the past 4 years, I’d follow Delisa anywhere she went! We recently had an encounter with Andrea at the desk. Avoid her at all cost…. I hope everyone gets the pleasure of being greeted and taken care of by Delisa at least once in their life.
I went on a weekend trip for a birthday with family and Delisa made our stay so much better. Every time we stay at the Shelborne we always get greeted with the biggest smile from her and always feel welcome. If you stay here and get to meet her you will not be disappointed. They also have a great selection of food and drinks from their pool menu as well. Always a pleasure staying at the Shelborne. Will definitely be coming back frequently! Thank you Delisa?
Hotel very poorly maintained at the level of the floors / room, bed bug, cleaning done once in 4 days, obligation to ask for dirty towels at the reception which is also unpleasant, no parking therefore obliged to pay 50 dollars at the valet to valet even if we don't use the car. Hotel to flee ? Never again

This location has amazing appeal from the pool to the Oceanview. The room we occupied had some updates but could have received a little more tlc. The bathroom was a bit small as well. However, Lara was extremely helpful and made our stay fantastic. With a more updated room, I would definitely return to this facility.
Terrible Customer Service: Shelborne South Beach Fails to Return Deposit or Respond to Inquiries I am writing this review to express my extreme disappointment with the Shelborne South Beach hotel's complete lack of professionalism and customer service. Despite multiple attempts to contact them, they have not returned my deposit or bothered to respond to any of my phone calls or emails. It has been a frustrating and aggravating experience that I would not wish upon anyone. After making a reservation at the Shelborne South Beach, I paid a holding deposit as requested. However, upon checking out, I was informed that the deposit would be returned to me within a specified timeframe. It has now been six weeks, and I am still waiting for the refund. Initially, I tried contacting the hotel via phone to inquire about the status of my refund. To my dismay, the calls went unanswered or were met with vague promises of someone getting back to me. Despite leaving numerous messages, no one bothered to return my calls or provide any updates regarding my deposit. In addition to my phone attempts, I also sent several emails to the hotel's designated email address, hoping for a quicker response. Unfortunately, it seems that my emails have gone straight into a void. The lack of communication and disregard for their guests' concerns is absolutely unacceptable.
Classic Miami Beach Hotel! Great vibe and great location! Staff is wonderful! Special thanks to Delissa who was so professional and warm! Delissa always makes me feel like a valued guest! Shelborne Miami Beach is a great hotel!
Shelborne Hotel in South Beach Miami is conveniently located approximately 35 minutes away from either Miami or Fort Lat Lauderdale airports. It was opened in 1940 and last November the owner spend $20 million dollars to renovate the place. Reading bad reviews made me nervous because at the time of booking, the hotel had solid ratings and price was not too outrages. I am not sure who was upset and why these reviews were written but they are not accurate. We stayed for 5 days and during that time not once we have experienced anyone being rude to customers. At the desk we were checked immediately and when I inquired on the upgrade we were offered a nice ocean view room on the high floor. The room was not big but it had a nice size walking closet – much bigger than you would get at any standard hotel. The room had a coffee maker and a small size fridge. With an upgrade we got an ocean view with a balcony and enjoyed having a cup of coffee in the morning. The room was not renovated but it was clean and it is important to us to stay in the clean room. You do have to ask for your room to be cleaned. It is a new normal in most of the hotels post pandemic, so please do not anticipate the cleaning service if you did not ask for it. There is a coffee shop at the lobby of the hotel and you can get food/drinks at the pool. The pool area was always nicely looked after and we never had to wait to get towels neither at the pool or at the beach area. The hotel offers several poolside cabanas and they were booked by guests daily. There is a place by the pool that you can play ping pong or cornhole, or simply enjoy the sun. The access to the beach is gated and opens with a room key. At night the hotel locks the door with an access to the beach. I would assume for the security reasons. In some of the reviews I read about the construction site next door being unbearably loud, so yes there is a construction going on and some noise associated with it, but it was not distractive at all. We saw a lot of families with children at the pool, so I would say it is a family friendly resort. There is not much going on at the hotel at night, even though they had some music playing at the lobby. I think most people like to go and explore the city of Miami and everything that Collins Avenue has to offer. There are so many good places to eat and enjoy the nightlife in the walking destination. We rented a car at the airport, so we used the parking/valet services. I was provided with the QR code which was very convenient; by accessing a code the request for your car is being made and the text message send you stating that the request was received, approximate time of waiting and the next text will arrive in about 2 minutes before the car is ready. The waiting period was never more than 15 minutes or so.
