Churchills was always my favorite dive bar/ music venue/ hole in the wall. Churchills was a staple in the south Florida punk rock community and it’s so sad that it is not there anymore because of greedy developers. I had seen so many bands play here over the years. It really was nothing great to a lot of people in South Florida but to a small many, this place was and will always be special.
Sorry to see this place closed simply because so many bands had a chance to fill a tour date here...including my own. We played here in 2005 and it was full. Unfortunately over half the people there were just there to watch soccer and drink...but still a big crowd. Drinks were cold, didn't eat. Acoustics weren't great, but we didn't expect much when we pulled up and saw people walking barefoot across the streets and chickens running around aimlessly. It was punk...
