The Taurus Coconut Grove is a beloved local spot, known for its cozy and historical charm. This establishment has a rich history, originally built in 1920 as part of the estate of Coconut Grove pioneer Ralph Munroe. It has served various purposes over the years, including a tea room and gift shop, before becoming The Taurus Steakhouse in 1969. The wooden structure features a stone fireplace, providing an intimate atmosphere.
The restaurant is particularly known for its fun events, like Trivia night hosted by Andy, and stand-up comedy nights on Thursdays. The staff is friendly and attentive, making it a great place to hang out. While the menu is limited, the food is highly praised, with items like MASA CRAFT, croquettes, wings, cheesesteaks, and the favorite burger drawing loyal customers. Guests recommend finishing off the meal with one of their desserts, described as ridiculously good. It’s a spot worth visiting, ensuring a great time in a historic setting.
