Had 2 adults and three children 3 and under and they charged us an undisclosed service charge at the end without telling us. Then showed us in small print its in the very back of the menu where no one reads because there are no menu items on the back page. I complained about it but the woman I think she is also the owner, said “its because people don’t tip”. I understand, I work in the service industry myself but they should not be doing that where it’s not obviously disclosed. Not once did she ever mention we would be charged a service fee for 5 people its normally customary with 6. Mind you we had babies. We will never be returning again! It’s better to be honest and fully disclose and let people decide rather than to lose business. We are locals too that just moved back and came here over other restaurants because we liked it so much but this definitely put a bad taste in my mouth. I also did the math and this is over a 20% charge on the bill before taxes unless she’s trying to include all the taxes and then after do the charge and ultimately it doesn’t matter because it’s absolutely ridiculous. Even though I expressed my concerns she did nothing to correct the fee. She doesn’t have any wait staff she’s the owner and wants to complain about tips… please greedy!

We came here for lunch with our three young children (ages 3, 2, and 1). We ordered just two entrées plus rice and tofu for the kids. To our surprise, the restaurant automatically added a 20% gratuity—for three babies who obviously aren’t being “served” in the same way as adults.
This policy is buried in tiny print at the back, which feels misleading. Charging families with small children a mandatory 20% gratuity is unreasonable and unfair.
We will not be returning, and I strongly encourage others to think twice before dining here.

Excellent meal presentation, and I enjoyed the chef's decision to coarsely chop the vegetables. And I liked the intriguing shape of the wontons in my soup!

Mango sticky rice was the best. We had a 2 for spice with the green curry and it was too hot. The flavor was amazing.

Skip the chain restaurants — Talay Thai is the real deal! The crab avocado is fresh and addictive, the spicy lime sea bass is a flavor bomb, and the lychee curry duck is pure comfort food with a twist. Friendly service, fair prices, and way better than the average beach-town spot. Go hungry, leave happy. Too bad, I ate them all and forgot to take the picture. Until next time!

We have been coming to Talay Thai on every single trip we make to Destin. You have to get this glass noodle appetizer called Yum Woon Sen. Just trust me on this one. Also, the crab meat fried rice is out of this world. Their house fried rice is also amazing. The Tom Kha (coconut milk, mushroom, lemongrass) soup is craveable. They can make the spice to your liking, but it can get hot quick, so err on the side of more mild and you can always add more spice if you need. Everything is fresh and delicious, the service is so sweet, and get the mango sticky rice for dessert. We will come back again and again and again. The sweet, sweet lady who works there has seen our children grow up through the years. We love coming here!

Wonderful food and great service. Every year on vacation we stop here multiple times. We love the place and the service there is great!!!
OMG
Went to have some Mexican at the restaurant next door and they were closed-permanently!!
Looked up and saw Talay Thai. My wife has to be careful with seafood allergies so we went in a little skeptical.
Once inside...we were greeted by a very nice lady who we presumes was an owner. She was pleasant...we order fried and fresh spring rolls for the four of us. Absolutely delish!
Then we ordered our mains-my wife ordered the Pad Thai w/chicken. I ordered the Rad Na w/seafood (it came out almost like a soup, and the gravy was so flavorful I couldn't stop slurping it up!!) and my sister and brother ordered their meals...Udon noodles w/seafood and Shrimp, Scallops and Pea pods, served with jasmine rice.
Everything came out together, hot and very fresh!! The flavors were spot on and the spice was done perfectly!!
We could not have been happier and this restaurant is going to be added to our local stops!!
Thanks so much Talay Thai!!
