We saw Guys & Dolls. Great performance.
Awesome theater and fantastic show!
Always enjoy coming here for the plays. Nice atmosphere.
I love the plays, this is my second trip to monticello to see the opera house and the wonderful actors and actresses. The stories are whimsical and full of suspense and who done its.i enjoyed the food way better last year than this time. The chicken was swimming in butter with barely any seasoning. The veggies were soggy and unappealing. We were on offered water to drink,no tea whatsoever. I was impressed last year by porch on the green, who catered it both years, but this time I was disappointed. I did, however enjoy the play, the story line was intense, and had me and my friends guessing the outcome til the very last scene. The ambiance of the opera house was amazing. Its a true historic building, a beautiful testimony to psst years and it was very well kept up.
Lovely town. Visit the opera house 8f you get a chance.
Amazing space. The beauty in this place is simply breathtaking. They are renovating the Opera House. So bare with them. This was a dress rehearsal I got to sneak in and watch. I loved it. The old creaky floors, the acoustics, and fellowship with old friends was so fun. We love this little staple of Monticello!
Attended the last showing of Sweeney Todd which was a sold out show, so recommend buying tickets in advance. The characters were well cast and the play sets were very well done. There was also a live orchestra which was a welcome surprise and Bloody Mary’s at the bar with all the garnishes. The performance was extremely entertaining and was 3 hours long with the intermission.Only negative is how small the space is in the seating. I'm 6' and my knees were firmly planted in the seats in front of me. Considering this theater was built in 1890 it's not surprising, just be aware of that if you come.
First time going to see a show at MOH. One of my sons recently graduated college and saw the Opera House had the musical Sweeney Todd production. He asked to go as a gift. The musical from start to finish was, WOW!The last show we had seen was in a different state and it was the opera, Mary Queen of Scots. This Sweeney Todd musical was up there for us, with performances and music alike! The lead actors, Ken and Jennifer were a joy to watch! The other actors held their own, even the younger less experienced ones. We're not sure if we ever want to go back to see another performance at MOH, because we feel this musical could not match anything else we would see there.Bravo! ?One thing that bothered me was the chairs. They are small, school auditorium chairs. I know the Opera House is old, but the chairs killed my back.
Loved the show
Beautiful old building!

To step inside of this wonderful place, so steeped in history is like stepping back in time.
Beautiful old building on the Monticello town square. Great theater. Monticello is a bustling little community.
As someone who is on that stage a lot,I love the opera house, though I do wish they would install better air conditioning or something because the dressing rooms are so hot and get smelly, plus dancing and moving around on stage gets very hot at times.

We had the downstairs view instead of upstairs. The seating was uncomfortable and they didn’t think that fans or air conditioning was needed. We ended up leaving after the 1st take. Cast did a good job.
