I've always been seated within moments of walking in and treated well by the staff. My wife and I have enjoyed all our meals as they have phenomenal presentation and taste to match. Regardless of how busy the restaurant is, I've always gotten my order quickly.
I enjoyed the waterfall beef salad I had and my wife was a fan of the red curry. We also split a chicken satay appetizer, which has delicious peanut sauce! All of the dishes had great portion sizing and a wonderful blend of ingredients. I never felt like I was eating just greens or proteins.
The seating and restaurant have always been clean and the atmosphere is nice. They do offer outdoor seating, which is lovely when the weather isn't too hot.
Overall I can't recommend this place enough!

This place is extremely consistent and always delicious. I highly recommend the Downtowner Roll, it is so good! It’s a great spot for lunch, you won’t leave hungry and they have nice options. I also like their spicy edamame. The sushi and sashimi are fresh, I only eat them at places like this that stay busy. Not much for atmosphere but the food makes up for it.

Hands down, THE best restaurant in Mt. Dora and one of the very best sushi and Thai restaurants I have ever gone to. The menu is large. The food is exceptional and the service is great. HIGHLY recommended!

JK THIA & Sushi is another local favs. They open for lunch and close from about 2-4 for dinner! I haven't had anything there that I didn't live! Everything has its own delicious flavor. The service is always great! Try the thia teas it's one of my favs! Check them out!!

Mount Dora's
JK Thai Garden & Sushi Restaurant.
I was spending some days in Mount Dora. My favorite town. I have been to this restaurant before with my husband and with friends.
On Thursday, January 2, 2025, at around 6:20pm, I went Solo to eat dinner at this place.
It was not crowded. There were empty tables. They do not take reservations.
The mature lady (probably one of the owners) was at the cashier's and was the greeter. As I standed before her she did not greet me or looked at me. I said good evening, and waited looking at her. After several seconds she finally looked at me and I said, good evening, dinner for one.
She said, "we do not have tables for one" Thinking that that was odd, I said it's okay, I can seat at any of your empty tables. She repeated that they did not have tables for one person. I said, clearly you have space, I would like to seat at a table and eat dinner. She said that if I wanted to eat I have to seat at the sushi bar. No thank you, I said, I want to eat at a table. She finally said, "we do not serve for only one person".
I wanted to say so many things, but decided to control myself and left.
To this establishment I want to say, you should not discriminate against Solo clients.
Next day I was chatting with a group of ten people and we were talking about restaurants. When I shared my story they were appalled and decided to Not visit this place ever, and to share my experience.
I have also shared it with all my friends. They, naturally, will never visit this place again.
So, when I left this unwelcoming restaurant I was thinking where should I go. I went to the Mexican restaurant were I was greeted warmly, I could seat wherever I wanted, and received great service, and loved the food and invigorating ambiance. On Friday, I had dinner Solo again at Pizza Amore. They greeted me warmly too, were very accommodating, service was excellent, and the food delicious.
Thanks to a very unwelcoming experience at JK Thai and Sushi, I was able to enjoy two great dinners at other two much better restaurants, I was treated with respect and warmly, and was not penalized for being alone.

Best sushi in Mount Dora! The quality is obvious. I love the originality of their specialty rolls and the way they garnish with caviar or salmon roe. I don’t mind spending the price. I recommend the downtown roll and the gyoza has cabbage in it which is my favorite. There is a lot of seating including outdoors which is covered by umbrellas. The bathroom is also very nice & accommodating for mothers. I have eaten here only twice in the past 4 years but would recommend for anyone looking for a good sushi spot in lake county. I’ll have to try the Thai food one of these days. I will say there was a crowd waiting for dinner to start which shows you how loved this restaurant is.
