I was excited to dine at Andy Hyde's restaurant, drawn in by his story and reputation. Unfortunately, the experience fell short in several key areas. The menu for the evening featured a three-course tasting menu (Oysters, Green Asparagus Salad, Ghanaian Spiced Maine Lobster). While the dishes sounded promising, the execution was lacking. The first course took an excessive 60 minutes to arrive, and considering it was a light dish (oysters), we were eagerly anticipating the next course. However, the second course didn't arrive for another 60 minutes. By the time we were served the third course, it had been 2.5 hours since we sat down, and by that point, I was not only starving but frustrated. I appreciate a leisurely-paced meal, and I wasn't looking to rush the evening, but this was beyond reasonable. The long gaps between courses created an awkward atmosphere not only for us but for other diners as well. It was clear from observing other tables that everyone shared our frustration with the pacing of the meal. While I have great respect for Andy Hyde and his vision, sadly, the execution on this visit missed the mark. I hope the team is able to resolve these issues for future diners, but unfortunately, I won't be returning.
Dinner was delicious. Service was excellent. Pacing of dinner is relatively slow. This is a small place with personalized cooking made for you. The antithesis of a large luxury chain. Nice, reasonable wine selection.
We love eating at this eclectic restaurant where you feel as if you've been seated in Chef Hyde's personal dining room! The food is beyond delicious and always something new. The atmosphere is fun and elegant at the same time.
A fabulous evening with delightful hosts. Mushroom soup was delicious; asparagus salad innovative and tasty; outstanding lobster perfectly seasoned. Hosts described everything as they served it. A memorable experience. We shall return.
While nicely presented, all the dishes had a taste problem. The oysters(limited quantity) were overdressed so didn't get the nice briny taste of the oysters. The mushroom soup had an off taste which could have been the walnut oil. The handmade tortellini were beautifully presented on a pea purée, with fresh pas and pea tendrils. The quality of the tortellini was wonderful but need a little more taste appeal. The chicken rollatine were delicious and perfect. The lobster was overly embellished with seasoning instead of being enhanced by the seasoning which was spicy and curry like, not doing the lobster a favor. The rice it was served on was very good. Not rushing back!
This is truly a special place! Chef Andy and his wife are the most gracious people. They both greeted us at the door and welcomed to their dining room. We also interacted with several of their staff members and each was equally lovely! We had a three course meal...then had to try the dessert. Everything they serve is expertly prepared and presented. Starters were wild mushroom soup and fresh oysters with caviar, then tortellini in a lobster sauce and and asparagus salad with a coddled egg...all incredible! We both had the lobster and Wow! Each course was delivered hot and so fresh. After dinner we got up to leave and Chef Andy's wife ran out to say goodbye and give us hugs! Our experience was more than I could've imagined. This is a special place
Fabulous food, intimate space with eclectic design - great vibes by Andy, Shekeba and staff! Just a delightful evening with such personal service - wishing you continued success...
There is nothing else in Naples quite like Hyde n Chic. We had a truly amazing meal with lots of different foods and flavors. And the service is personal and perfect. We will be returning regularly.

On Saturday, my wife, daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed the dining experience of Hyde n Chic. As a former chef in Manhattan's classical French cuisine circuit, I was very impressed with every aspect of our meal. The food was interesting, flavorful and wonderfully presented. The service could not have been more satisfying, as though we were guests in their home. If you are looking for an abundance of food served very fast, this is not for you. A very fine dining experience that we will certainly return to. BRAVO!!
OMG! Like nothing else in Naples. A prefix amazing 5 course meal in Chef Hyde's “ living room”. A beautiful, inviting space with art covering the walls. Next to a pet shop and laundromat in a small strip center hides this delight. Chef's wife is hostess/server/pastry chef. It's a culinary adventure with west African “world fusion” of flavors. A curry like purée begins the journey followed by perfectly cooked rare salmon with caviar, then crispy skin hog snapper, incredible quail and seared foie gras in a demi glace. Succulent lamb and then coconut cake with charred meringue. Friendly, inviting service. We made friends and had a meal which is every bit Michelin Star quality. This experiment must be supported. Run to Hyde N Chic for a memorable unique experience.
We dined at Hyde N Chic for the January 2024 tasting menu. We have met Chef Andy who is very nice and sampled the food at events in Naples, and we were really looking forward to enjoying the tasting menu in the restaurant. Our meal in the restaurant was a disappintment for us unfortunately. The food was good, but most of what we were served did not match the menu (photo included with my review). In course three, the seabass was very good but was missing the baby turnips. The prawn was an impressive size and good (a firmer texture than I was expecting), but missing the rice. In course four, we were served what appeared to be roughly cut chunks of roasted chicken breast with a brown mushroom gravy sauce — not close to what we were expecting from the description on the menu. There was no white truffle mousse nor mustard frill to be seen on the plate. For course five, we were served champagne ice cream. The flavor again was good, but this time a complete deviation from the menu.
After course three, we asked about the missing baby radishes and rice. We were told there was no rice in house that day. The missing baby radishes were not addressed. After feeling like our concerns were dismissed, we did not ask about the issues we perceived with course four. In any other fine dining situation (or even casual dining), we would have been alerted to a missing ingredient or a change to the menu prior to ordering.
After course four and before course five, we were presented with our check which was unexpected and unusual. The check included an automatic service charge of 20% on the food and the wine. We paid in full, deciding to count it as a learning experience and move on. After we paid, we were offered more apologies and espresso which we didn’t feel was an adequate response to the issues that we alerted staff to in course four and the completely different offering presented to us for course five.
Regarding presentation of the dishes, they were not as artistic as we’ve seen in photos from previous tasting menus. Part of the fun of a tasting menu is being wowed by the presentation, and while the plates themselves were decorative, there was no feeling that special techniques were used to present the food served.
From arrival to departure, we were there for about 2.5 hours which isn’t unusual for a tasting menu. However, we did feel the pace was slow, and there was a decent amount of downtime between the courses.
Other general observations (see aforementioned downtime):
- Entry into the restaurant is a little awkward. You go from the parking lot directly into the dining room. It might be nice to have a small square at the front partially curtained off to provide a transition area.
- The dining area is very open, and the tables are very long making it difficult to have a conversation with a dining partner.
- An additional staff member to act as a host and provide support such as to refill water glasses and check on guests would be helpful. Once a dish was put in front of us, we weren’t checked on again until it was time to take the plate away and again not until the next one came out.
Overall, we would have liked to have seen the dishes presented to us match to the tasting menu, been alerted to ingredient changes/removal, and had our concerns addressed rather than dismissed. It’s unlikely that we would return or recommend to friends visiting.

Sensational food! The experience and relationship you have with the chef and staff was above and beyond. As a vegetarian the chef was very creative with the food and not just your typical vegetarian fare. Looking forward to coming back!
