I don’t usually write reviews; particularly ones, but I felt compelled to share my recent experience here at Island Vybz Jamaican Cuisine.

Yesterday, I stopped in to grab a bite before heading back to Tampa and was genuinely looking forward to enjoying some good Jamaican food. Unfortunately, the service I received left me feeling unwelcome.

When I walked in, the young lady at the counter didn’t greet me or acknowledge me beyond taking my order. I had to ask what came with the curry chicken meal, and instead of explaining, she simply rang it up, gave me the total, and told me to “hit the red button” (decline tip) and sign the device. No smile, no eye contact, no indication of basic hospitality.

I told her that I would be dining in, but she didn’t direct me to a seat or acknowledge that at all. I found my own table and waited. When my food was ready, I was called back up to the counter and handed a styrofoam to-go container. As I reached for it, she snapped at me to “hold it properly.” Later, when I came back to ask for hot sauce, it was handed to me silently, with no word or eye contact. None of those things deal-breakers.

What truly made me take pause was the drastic difference in how two white male customers were treated shortly after, when they came into the restaurant. The same young lady greeted them warmly, made friendly conversation, and even offered to come around the counter to re-clean their table (which didn’t appear dirty). She chatted with them while they waited, and when their food was ready, it was brought out to them directly. She asked them if everything was okay; something she never botthered to ask me.

The contrast in treatment was noticeable, and honestly, disheartening. It’s clear she knows how to provide good customer service; she just chose not to extend it to me.

That said, the food was delicious, and the prices were reasonable. But no matter how good the food is, customer service matters. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and encourages staff to treat all customers with Equal respect and kindness, regardless of who they are. If this had been a white-owned restaurant, I might’ve walked away feeling I had been discriminated against.

Anyway, good food should be paired with good service; and both should be offered to everyone.

I had the oxtail! 10 out of 10! I haven’t had oxtail in years and it brought me back. Definitely will buy again! Good food good people!

I had the jerk chicken, and let me tell you, it was fire in the best way possible! The flavors were bold, smoky, and perfectly spiced, just like authentic Jamaican cuisine should be. The chicken was tender and juicy, cooked to perfection. You could taste the love and tradition in every bite. Definitely coming back for more. Big up to the chef

The food was delicious and the people were nice. I Will definitely comeback next time I come back to Florida. The only downside was that they were out of somethings like jerk chicken and red snapper at 6pm dinner time. I don't know how a restaurant can be out of food before dinner time and the closing time is 10pm. Also be aware they have sitting like a seat down restaurant but they don't serve on normal plates, your food will be served to you in Styrofoam containers with plastic forks. But they have plastic plates if you ask them.
But the food was delicious which counts, I enjoyed it.

Very good food here I like the Jamaican cuisine reminds me of some of the food from my Costa Rican heritage. I would definitely come back to this place again and I love their curry chicken a lot!!

Great food, really really good! We had take out. They give you a lot! Like 2 portions in each container. We ordered 3 meals for 3 people and no one could eat it all. Great leftovers 😋. They were out of jerk chicken which i really wanted. Got jerk pork, tender and the sauce was great...I just prefer chicken. The curry chicken was excellent as well. The rice and beans were fresh and hot. I will eat here again next time I visit!

I would say that the food definitely taste phenomenal, I had the brown stew chicken HOWEVER, everyone in the house including another household that recommended this to us was severely effected! We all had food poisoning, it woke us up out of our sleep, and omg this is the worst thing ever.

Absolutely hands down AMAZING mon!

So unfortunately our belly’s ate first before we could get a picture of our AMAZING food. We ordered the oxtail, jerk chicken with rice, beans, veggies, cabbage, and the sweetest plantains. We also tried a few different Jamaican drinks that were absolutely delicious. One of our favorites was the Megnum Tonic Wine 😮‍💨🤤🤭, my boyfriend doesn’t drink or like the taste of alcohol and he enjoyed it. The atmosphere is great, very comfortable home type vibes. The bar is massive and, fun! The staff is beautiful and so kind. These are the types of places we enjoy spending money and our time at. We are now officially sold on this being one of our favorite places 🤍

We stopped here at our way down to Marco Island and no regrets in doing so. It was well worth our time to drive over for lunch. We ordered the Jerk chicken, Curry Chicken and a beef patty. All we're excellent and recommended. I have lived in Jamaica for a couple years and have visited the island on several occasions. This Jamaican food is authentic as you will get in Jamaica. It was excellent.

When you know you know. I'm from South Florida were authentic Jamaican food is easy to find. In Naples this place is the only true authentic Jamaican food. I ordered there curry goat it was absolutely fabulous. portions are big and prices are very fair. will definitely be back atleast once a week. ✌️ ☮️
