I ordered a burger with pineapple which is an amazing combo I discovered at a Hawaiian chain years ago - it’s VERY hard to find. The burger was absolutely delicious and so were the shoestring fries. (I like them salty and they were. ) Good size burger too, even the 1/3 lb which is the smallest option.

The server was on point and the food was decent but the price was extremely high. 2 people getting a milk shake and burger should be nearly 100 dollars. Nothing gourmet about it.Fried pickles were lack luster.Fries coldBurgers nothing special and bland when compared to burger fi, Brooks, and Jimmy p's.Getting a surcharge for service and also asking for a tip on top of it.I would not recommend this to anyone, go to Jimmy P's for a better burger, go to the pub down the street for a better burger and save yourself some money for a better experience.

My husband just stopped in at the counter for lunch today. We had the hippie salad and the Vegan Veggie Burger. Both items were delicious. The salad was dressed with just the right amount of dressing.. Joy was our waiter and he was very friendly and attentive. I would highly recommend The Counter.

Overpriced garbage.The service was surly and slow, despite only 3 other tables being occupied. The waiter didn't write down our order, and got it wrong.The food was terrible, and the bill was $121 for 1 burger, and appetizer of wings, a salad, a grilled cheese , and 2 shakes.Avoid it at all costs.But, If you do find yourself in the unfortunate position of eating here, watch the check, it will include service , but will also prompt you to leave a tip on top of it.

I am assuming the ownership has changed. I used to love this place, but now there is a 20% service charge automatically included on the bill. I'm glad I noticed as this is new. The service was not the greatest, but we still liked the burgers. With all the other options in town, I think it's time to move on to a different burger place.

This franchise really has gone downhill. Looks like all the staff are related to owner of franchise. Totally understaffed, long waits, decent food but the kicker was they automatically included a 20% gratuity (to add insult to injury); no wonder no rush; Our bill came to $88. for (4) burgers & 2 orders of fries & only water.

Horrible experience, especially if your looking for a good Bison Burger. Disgusting! Also if you like your burger medium rare don’t even bother they have no clue how to cook anything but we’ll done. Sent back burger and they brought out mush. The Counter has really change from what it was a year ago. Customer service was terrible and so was the food. It’s such a shame because it WAS a good burger place. Don’t waste your money or time

I’m not one to leave reviews, but my experience here was notably terrible. It took an hour to get our food, during which I’m pretty sure they forgot about us once. When our food came, they got our order wrong twice, in ways that cost more (they billed us for the more expensive mistakes). The food was fine once we got it. Would not go here again.

Service ok, ambiance good, food not so good. Looked appetizing enough until a bug walked across my plate. Did not finish my meal and probably should not have paid. But, I paid and walked out. Never again.

Went with my family when the restaurant was quiet. Staff was incredibly kind and welcoming. We throughly enjoyed our stay and the food was freshly made to order. I really admire the restaurant because they love what they do, making damn good food. It wasn't expensive and the food was delicious. If you ever get the chance too, I recommend coming when it isn't busy. You will love it :)

This place was sorely understaffed when we were there, one guy was running the whole place except for a cook. I applaud him for his efforts and a job well done. I love their concept here of offering burgers with a multitude of topping options that you check off on a sheet of paper. The burger was delicious and well priced, the sweet potato fries were great too. I hope they are able to hire more staff.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND. We got sat immediately, and the guy who sat us was very nice. Turns out he was the owner, and struggling (like everyone) to find help. He took our order, and was all over the place making sure everyone had what they needed! Our food was absolutely delicious! We all ordered different items, and they were all great. The chicken my mom ordered was not dry and neither was my turkey burger - which is huge. The owner checked on us, and refilled out drinks promptly and thanked us repeatedly for coming in. Honestly, if I didn't live in Chicago, I'd be there all the time! I'll definitely be bAck next time I'm in town though.

We have been there many many times and have always liked the food. Well today there was a piece of hard plastic in my burger. My husband said it looked like a piece of pvc pipe. We also ordered cocktails as we have before yet we were asked if we wanted ice. There was no ice in our cocktail. The ice was in a separate glass. This was just too weird. Evidently the bartender had not been trained. Well we won’t be going back. Which is a shame because we really did like going there.

Polite but not caring. Waited over 20 minutes for food. Then handed juice instead of milk without explanation. When asked, I was told they are out of milk and my food was late because half my order was dropped on the floor and had to be recooked. Both valid excuses. However, a smile, an apology and maybe even a free cookie go a long way and cost next to nothing.
