Not our first visit; maybe 4th. Don't remember this problem in the past. Don't confuse this with fine dining. It is a nice friendly experience of decent food combined with a large salad bar. Key word is friendly; seems to be a real favorite of locals. I was not unhappy about any portion of the meal, but it was COLD where we were sitting in booths opposite the salad plate cooler, to be specific. SO cold my wife left the meal early to warm up outside; I was 'chilly'...
Second time here and was happy both visits. My end cut prime rib was tender and juicy, ( not typical of end cuts). Salad bar was fresh and well stocked. Italian wedding soup was delicious. Service was good as well. My favorite place for prime rib, though my dinner companion had the pork chop that looked fabulous and probably will be my next choice.
Have never eaten at Pewter Mug and found it better than great! Had 6:00 reservations, a full entry of patrons but we were promptly seated at 6. Waitress was so pleasant and efficient in spite of having several large tables. The prime rib melted in your mouth. It will not be our last visit!
