Food was good at this restaurant The only reason I didn’t give it a five star and I’ve been a fan of this restaurant is because the prices on the website are so outdated so when you’re only expecting to pay less than $20 for lunch, it actually comes up to $25 the burgers are $18 which Rivals your finer steakhouse burgers, which they are not and they don’t have a soda machine so they charge it for three dollars per can of soda which I thought was kind of cheesy So I’m expecting to pay $14 for a burger and $1.50 per can that’s $17 plus tax instead of being hit with $25 plus tax. So I think they grew too fast for their britches But I won’t be going back Kind of like a switch and bait routine is what I think of it. The food is not worth $25 for a burger and fries.

It's evident this place deserves the accolades it receives by all the little elements it has from creative flair on breakfast basics to the small charms of scratch biscuits and unique one off items. However on this visit for us the food was almost non edible. The Benedict was so salty I could not eat, the casserole was burnt and the other crab Benedict was so fishy we left untouched. Was a real disappointment, but hopefully it was a one off day.

Ordered the shrimp and grits because they were supposedly famous. The sause was way over seasoned and the texture was like eating a poorly cooked roux. Our waitress was a trainee but pleasant. No convenient restrooms. No atmosphere. No a relaxing place by any means.I won't be going back.

I have recommended this restaurant so many times before the DDD episode was out. It was one of my favorites. Now, not so much. And I get it, their world has changed since the episode. But last weeks visit wasn’t great. The Ruben brisket was over cooked and dry. The crunchy grouper sandwich was a 1-1.5” wide piece of fish sitting in the middle of a 4” wide hamburger style bun. The jalapeño coleslaw had no visible jalapeños and way overpriced for the size of the ramekin it came in. However, the place was packed, service was excellent and the carrot cake is still to die for. I have been coming here for years, will probably try one more time and hopefully they will get their feet under them to deal with their new normal.

Go, have a biscuit there. They’re really good!
I had blackened grouper sandwich, fish was good, although not that juicy, the bun was burnt a little too much. Overall the sandwich felt very dry. The Bloody Mary was good too, but the biscuit stole the show.
It felt too okay to justify that wait time.

I had the pleasure of being served by Abigail, and she truly made my experience exceptional. From the moment we were seated, she greeted us with a warm smile and made us feel right at home. Throughout the meal, she was attentive, friendly, and caring, checking in on us at just the right moments. It’s rare to encounter such a personable and positive attitude, and Abigail’s service truly stood out. I left with a smile, thanks to her kindness and outstanding customer care. Highly recommend her service!

Food was good would have rated this place a five but when I asked where the bathroom was i had to go thru the kitchen right past the grill where the cook was making food for customers and I definitely changed my mind little kids and adults passing by the grill
Disgusting!
How unsanitary this is for everyone. I will never come back and if people ask I will not recommend this place unless you want to take a chance with your health

My bestie and I googled a soul food restaurant and this place popped up low and behold we arrived and was seated but Never served. After not being acknowledged or greeted by a waiter 10 minutes we left.

We were ahead of three Customer. They serve them first before us, and I kept on asking him if I can use the restroom discrimination.

Glad I tried it. Not running back anytime soon! Check in was a little chaotic- we were third in the list. Somehow everyone on the waiting list was seated before us. The man seating the people couldn’t read the names on the list or how many people were in their party. Took about 45 mins to get a table and another 45 to get our food. We didn’t get some of the side items we ordered but they were on our bill when we paid. Not going back anytime soon.
