The Mermaid Cafe at Riverview

My mom, sister and I went to the Mermaid Cafe and we absolutely loved it! So much so that we came back just a couple days later, and will be back again!

The atmosphere is everything you could want from a beachside breakfast cafe. Ample outdoor seating, beachy umbrellas for shade, and a cool turquoise color scheme. They even have an outdoor air conditioner set up to keep the heat at bay!

The food was spectacular! And the proces are very reasonable! The beignet's are the best we've ever had. Their waffles are a must-have and they offer plenty of flavor options to suit every palate. We also tried a mimosa flight, each flavor of mimosa as delicious (and beautiful) as the last! We thoroughly enjoyed everything we ate at the Mermaid Cafe.

The servers were all very friendly and attentive. Even when they were busy they made sure to check up on you and get you anything you needed. Finally, the owner Jim is a delight. Each time we were there he came to the table to make sure everything was to our liking and we had a pleasant chat. He runs a fine business he should be very proud of. The Mermaid Cafe has been a highlight of our stay here in New Smyrna!

We had the best experience at Mermaids! The binets were amazing as were the waffles and burrito! The staff were attentive and friendly and the owner even gave our daughter a mermaid change purse! Our only complaint is that it’s not closer to our home or else we would definitely be regulars 🥰!

Ate at this cafe for breakfast & truly enjoyed it! Got to meet the owner and he was super kind and attentive, our server was also lovely. The food was delicious and for drinks we ordered the mimosa flight it was so good! Loved the dole whip mimosa idea. Honorable mention: the beignets were AMAZING! I’m still thinking about the apple cinnamon ones we had. Will definitely be back

Lovely little spot in New Smyrna. The owner Jim and his staff are wonderful. Jim came to chat and welcome us. He gave us a background of how the Cafe came to be. You can tell he is proud of his restaurant.

The food was delicious, hot, and not overly salty. The beignets were “melt in your mouth” and the waffles are fluffy. The chicken and waffles was great, and I had a hash bowl
with sausage gravy. So good. We will definitely be back. You can really feel the good vibes here.

They were very accommodating with our puppy. We sat on the porch and they brought her dog treats and a water bowl. A+.

Cute hidden gem! My daughter really enjoyed choosing her waffle toppings at the topping bar and her shark drink. I just wish this place was bigger! 5 of us waited for a table for awhile, was sat at a 4 top and added a chair basically in the walkway, therefore very squished and my husband was getting bumped into the entire time by customers and waiters etc.

We go to the Mermaid café every time we're in town. Good food, Jim the owner is the bomb, waitresses are very good. #1 in my book. Try the beignets.
