IL Pastaio Pizzeria & Ristorante

Service was in an abundance with a genuine cheerful staff that wanted to be there, says lots for leadership at this Ristorante. Their Fiocchetti was amazing ! Perfect balance of cheeses and delightful bits of pears served with tartufo sauce ! A true gem in fine Italian food that will leave you wanting more and your wallet will love you.

I have only recently visited. I have eaten at this location a number of times under TWO previous iterations. Currently, the operation was taken over by an acquaintance of the last owner who retired. The space has been completely redone and looks wonderful. It bears little resemblance to the previous restaurant. They offer a special Happy Hour menu at their full service bar. The bar is something the old place didn't have. You can order takeout, but the best experience is dining in. I have been lucky to find a couple nice, small, owner operated Italian restaurants. Between this and La Forketta, my bases are covered. This visit was basically a test run. There were supposed to be six of us, but things came up for a few who had conflicts traveling, or with work, so only two this time.

The first surprise was how nicely the space had been put together. This is an example showing that simplicity and good taste always win. The seating is comfortable. They've also opened the space up toward the back and it flows quite nicely. The artwork on the walls is restrained, edited elegance. I also believe live entertainment is offered on the weekends as I noticed a sound system that was tucked away. I will try to return on a night when they offer live music.

We decided to take advantage of their Happy Hour menu which offers five appetizers for twenty-five dollars... It's a great deal and It was a great way to sample a lot of different things, ALL of which were excellent.... Great meatballs by the way... The Calamari was lightly battered and delicious, we also sampled their fried potato and cheese balls, which I LOVED... Well long story short, I had also ordered their Fettuccine Alfredo meal (a personal favorite) which to me is the real test. They make their own pasta.... The sauce was great, but even with sharing the appetizers, I was just too full to eat it, so it came home with me and was thoroughly enjoyed a few hours later. It never had a chance.

Prices are moderate with offerings in every price range. Their are some incredible offerings on the menu, so you can stay basic with a gourmet pizza, or get truly sophisticated dishes and feel like royalty. Parking can be a bit tight out front depending on the time of day, but most of the adjacent businesses in the shopping strip close at night leaving plenty of room for dinnertime patrons, not to mention other unused lots next door that are open as well along that strip of Dixie Highway at night. This is an area that is becoming quite trendy. If you think you have overindulged, there's a gym next door ? ? ?

The next time I go will be for a complete meal rather than sampling appetizers, but I have no worries... I will give an update very soon.

You will not be disappointed. Great lunches and dinners with best prices in town. All food was freshly cooked. Great happy hour and appetizers. A definitely must visit.

Ordered our first pizza from them and owner actually delivered it! Super nice guy. Can’t wait to go to the restaurant after he told us all about it. Said it was redecorated and his wife was the chef. Can’t wait to grab some neighbors and check it out. If his friendly style and the pizza is an indicator, going to be a home run hit I suspect.

Ordered food to go right before close and my order didn’t process when I went to pick It up. They stayed open late to accommodate me and the food was excellent. Even better service and hospitality from all staff. Can’t wait to go back for happy hour soon!
