Been eyeing this place for a while, as I've never been to a South African focused shop nor have I had the meal in a pie cuisine.
The shop keeper was very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.
I got the Shepherds Pie and Beefsteak Pie. I also picked up some sausage roll jerky and oat biscuit crackers/cookies?
Both pies were amazing. The pastry was solid and tasted so good!!!! Meats were delicious and had a terrific texture and flavors. The jerky was interesting. It had a good outer texture but the inside was almost creamy. Mind u this is sausage jerky, not mainstream American style. But it tasted good.
The biscuit/cookie/crackers thing came in a box and is so addicting. I couldn't put them down.
Place is a small market. Cool South African cuisine, delicious meat pies. Very easy to find and get to. Plenty of parking out front and in back.

I am South African and wanted to share something from home with my staff. I ordered pies for all of my teachers and staff at my school.....They are hooked, these meat and vegetarian pies are delicious. The only issue I am now facing is that everyone wants them once a week...or more. They are totally addicting, you will crave them, dream about them and look forward to eating your way through the entire menu. Don't be fooled, you will think your first one is your favorite......and then you try the next one then again and again. Expose yourself to a true South African tradition in the United States.
Vegetarian options: There are several vegetarian options, but most are meat. The vegetarian options are fantastic!

"Recipes for Love and Murder" exposed the TV world to South African food samplings.As a child growing up in the UP of Michigan I developed a Taste for pasties - the UP miner's version of the Cornish meat pie. So I all in for meat pies! Samosas, Empanadas, etcThese meat pies have a beautifully delicate pastry crust. The varied fillings are all good! Lamb, curried lamb, beef, etc.Very tasty.Plus they have biltong, the SA dried beef.Well worth a detour.
We got the curry chicken and beef pastry. Very very tasty and the curry was very flavorful with some spice which I love. The pastry itself is flaky and delicious. The ginger beer is excellent and the we tried the biltong for the first time. I'm going to return and buy some. The shop owners have perfect customer service. Great place to fuel up quickly

Deliciousness in a pie with a flaky crust that melts in your mouth. This place has mastered the art of "Hot and Fresh"The lamb curry and the beef sausage roll hit the spot. Both are flavorful and filling. I couldn't finish the pies in one setting. I also took a frozen lentil and frozen boboti to go with a side of chutney (sweet and tart sauce). The frozen pies come with easy to heat instructions. Which are perfect for those lazy days. Although the prices are a bit high. The ingredients, freshness and service with a smile are all worth it!!
