A nice down home cooking restaurant with friendly service and good food. One of the very few places I will go back to for some soul food. Not many places around that are even decent in terms of down home cooking and this hit the spot.

Came in with a party of four as we were in town from Chicago. We waited over an hour for our food. At no point was there ever more than 20 people in the restaurant. With the constant errors at the table next to us it appears to be a communication issue in the kitchen. The guy that started off serving us was nice. Then out of no where there was a lady serving us. Then ANOTHER lady. No name tags I don’t know who I’m addressing or who the real server was. Just disorganized. It appears serval workers are doing multiple jobs. 2 of our “servers” had on chef coats. The front desk girl was taking orders, running food, wiping down tables. This restaurant has a lot of potential. Just needs some order. The food was decent and with the wait it came out hot. But they left it in the microwave tooooo long because it was scorching. Smothered chicken was delicious it was smothered in gravy but still had a crunch to it. Mac was eh. Cabbage was yummy. Sweet potatoes was bitter. I personally wouldn’t return when in town but would encourage others to check this place out.

My wife and I were searching for something different to eat when I happened upon this place Red Velvet. Well we were totally impressed with everything from the start.
You walk into a beautifully decorated and clean restaurant with great lighting and comfortable seating. The service was excellent I’m not of her name but this lady was definitely the owner , designer and chef.
I ordered the smothered pork chops. Awesome! Plus the mac and cheese was perfect. The candied yams were off the hook!
My wife had the smothered chicken wings!
Also Awesome!
Her sides were collard greens , okra tomatoes and One traditional and one red velvet cornbread! Delicious!
I highly recommend this place and we will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu.
Thanks for a wonderful dinner!

I’ve been bugging my husband to come to this restaurant and finally. So sorry but we were both highly unsatisfied and disappointed. The wings were far too salty for our liking, we did not finish them. The yellow rices looked like grits and had some type of processed looking gravy on it. The Mac n cheese taste great and the flop. The red velvet cornbread probably was supposed to be the highlight but it was bland. I changed my mind about ordering the red velvet cake for desert after I tasted a piece of the cornbread. We were truly disappointed this Sunday.

My husband and I were trying to decide on a place to eat for lunch and we just accidentally came across a restaurant in Ft. Lauderdale, FL called, “The Red Velvet” We had never heard of it, but decided to give it a try because we wanted something different. Much to our delight, the food was delicious. It was hard to choose which one I wanted to try because all the selections were great selections, but I had finally chosen The Fried Chicken with Black-eyed peas and Yellow Rice with gravy. My husband chose the Fried Catfish with Collard Greens and Yams. We tried each other’s meal and we could not pick over the other because they were so good. I also tried the traditional cornbread while my husband decided to try their signature Red Velvet Cornbread. Make it a point to try this restaurant, you won’t regret it. I promise!

The pork chops were tough the cabbage was salty. They are way overpriced for what you get. Please don’t waste your time and money here.

I ordered turkey wing dinner absolutely not what I was expecting the turkey wings are so salty I got a headache the mac and cheese had no taste just blend the cabbage was too crunchy with garlic taste to it the red velvet cornbread was absolutely disgusting I truly believe these posters are fake ones and things restaurant is a five star because the food was absolutely no good but the young lady Michelle is very nice and I hope she picked it up and read this message because the food was a zero on zero and I have a massive headache as I'm sending this post

We've been to this restaurant a couple of times and enjoyed the food on both occasions. The fried chicken and fish were both tasty, and the yams and mac and cheese were almost as good as my grandma's. The signature Red Velvet cornbread put a colorful twist on a familiar classic. However, the oxtails missed the mark because they were not as well stewed as they should have been. Service was 5-star, but that might have been because no one else was in the restaurant while we were there. I hope that's not a troubling sign, because I'm planning to go back.
