my husband and I are celebrating our 36th anniversary. We have been wanting prime rib and found that on Mondays, They have two prime rib dinners for $40. Chrissy the server was very attentive and blessed us with a piece of key lime pie. Thank you! we appreciated the extra attention! The food was good and came out in a timely manner. The back of the restaurant could use some re-decorating.

Food was decent but not great. Chicken wings were just ok. Typical frozen to fryer wings. Rueben sandwich was really good and same with the burger. Ketchup was stale and tasted old. Asked server if they keep open ketchup in cooler overnight and he said they did not. Kind of gross so careful eating the ketchup! 12 oz beer was $4.50. Kind of spendy for burger bar.

Martini Monday is always fun

Never has staff, kitchen is always backed up even with 3/4 of the restaurant empty. Ownership really needs to take a hard look and either learn how to run a restaurant or hire someone that does.

Stopped for a bite on my way through. Ordered a drink and a Rueben. My server was awesome! My sandwich right off was very soggy and I couldn’t pick it up without it sliding apart. That was not my dissapointment with the food though. My disappointment was the fact that there was so much fat and gristle in the corned beef that I couldn’t even eat probably about half of it. I had to take the sandwich apart to finish eating what I could.. There was no eating that.. I told the server and he said he would let the manager know and the manager didn’t even have the decency to come over to the table to speak to me. I wasn’t looking for a discount I just wanted him to be aware that the sandwich was subpar. This was my first time coming here and what a disappointment.

Food was great.
Service was good, but..... they messed up the order of a friend that was with us and they took it back to correct and messed it up again. Waitress could have had a bad day. Won't stop is from coming back.

Today, my friends and I visited Horse and Hound for St. Patrick's Day. Although my friends had raved about the Corned Beef and Cabbage meal from their previous visit, unfortunately, the majority of us were disappointed with our meals today. This was my first time dining at Horse and Hound and I must say, I was not impressed. However, I appreciate the manager for taking the time to address our concerns and provide a discount on our meals. Despite the food not meeting our expectations, our waitress was exceptional and provided excellent service.

This place has gone downhill really bad. I had a gift card that was bought for me for Christmas and I went to go use it and they told me they do not accept their own gift card. This problem needs to be fixed!! This place has gone downhill very badly!

Not to pleased with this place anymore after I found out about the owner not honoring gift cards people have already bought or addressing it to customers in a professional way.

Restaurant will not honor gift cards because their reader doesn’t work. Unacceptable! Horrible to do to customers that have spent money on gift cards. They need to fix this issue or honor the cards at face value!

I’ve given Horse and Hounds multiple chances, but after consistently terrible experiences, I will never return. As a 25-year-old who enjoys dining out, I expect basic courtesy and service, yet every time I’ve gone to this restaurant, I’ve been completely ignored by the manager. Not just delayed service—flat-out ignored.

I’ve walked in, stood at the entrance waiting to be acknowledged, and watched as staff members passed by without so much as a glance in my direction. The manager, in particular, has ignored me entirely, never seating me, never even acknowledging my presence. I have stood there for several minutes on multiple occasions, only to walk out because it became clear that no one intended to serve me. This wasn’t a one-time occurrence—it has happened every single time I attempted to dine there.

It’s one thing if a restaurant is busy and seating takes time, but it’s another when a paying customer is outright ignored while others are seated and served. I shouldn’t have to be accompanied by an older person just to be treated like I exist. This level of disregard is unacceptable and speaks volumes about their customer service standards—or lack thereof.

From reading other reviews, it’s clear that Horse and Hounds has been declining in quality for years. Issues like refusing to honor gift cards, poor service, and unprofessional staff seem to be common experiences. Based on my treatment alone, I cannot recommend this place to anyone. If you want a great dining experience in Ocala, skip Horse and Hounds and go to Remington’s instead, where you’ll actually be acknowledged and treated like a valued guest.

Horse and Hounds has lost my business permanently.

Wasn't impressed. Bar tender was friendly but overzealous. Food was subpar. For an Appetizer we tried the curry mussels which was edible but unimpressive. For our main course we had the pot pie, which was obviously frozen, and a Steak salad, which was of poor quality, steak was very tough and fatty. Place was very presentable from the outside but very plain on the inside. Not a place I'd go out of my way to dine.

In town for a horse show. Food was good, service was average and the atmosphere was decent. Server didn’t seem have much knowledge of or concern for food allergies.

The rueben I ordered was not what the menu stated! The meat was lacking in the sandwich.. It was a Saturday and they had live music on the Patio. Service was excellent!

Wheelchair accessibility: They try hard to accommodate you, you’ll need help to get inside and customers have to move there chairs on the patio.
