This is one is a cut above any Sonny's I've been to...it's convenience is what made me stop in, but the attitudes of the men and woman that work here, the exceptional service and care overall feom the food to the cleanliness speak volumes about their leadership. I wouldn't say my experience at other Sonny's has been bad, but I never thought I'd write something like this about a Sonny's. This one is the one!

We stopped in to eat after being in traffic on I-75. We waited 15 minutes to be recognized! It was NOT busy at 2:00 pm. Our waiter, KB looked over us several times while talking with a table of people he seemed to know. When we finally ordered, we waited 40 minutes for our food! We asked twice about our order (there were only 4 of us, and we ordered 2 Big Deal sandwiches and a sampler platter) - and were told it was “up” but not prepared yet. We felt like KB forgot to enter the order to be honest. Several patrons had been served and departed before our food arrived. KB barely apologized for the delay and blamed it on the kitchen. He stated the manager asked why it was 30 minutes coming out and he replied, “I don’t know, ask the kitchen.” One would think the manager would have come over to speak with us and apologize for such a delay. To make matters worse, the handicap stall in the ladies room was plugged up with stool, making the restroom smell TERRIBLE. We reported this to the staff, and it remained this way almost 2 hours later before we left. I’ve frequented many Sonny’s restaurants in both FL and GA and have NEVER had such poor service or lack of cleanliness in any other establishment. I’ll never go to this Sonny’s again. It was obviously poorly managed.

We bought 4 meals, but none of them were to our liking. My boyfriend said that their barbecue used to be self-service, which was really good. It's a pity that it has changed now.

Very mediocre at best if I am being brutally honest. Both the chopped brisket and chicken leg and thigh had very, very little smoke flavor. The dining room had more smoke flavor than the actual food. Coleslaw tasted like mayo and sugar. Beans had bits of pork, but again, no smoke flavor.
This was by far and away the most basic BBQ I've ever had in a chain restaurant. I get standardization for the sake of consistency, but this was one step above McDonalds McRib. and one step below sub mediocrity.
On a positive note; for $3.49, you can get a large brewed iced tea that doesn't suck.

Food was very good. Server Abby was a great server. Extremely friendly & very helpful with the menu items. First time diner there & was very happy having gone there. If your ever in the Ocala 484 area give it a try. You’ll enjoy it.
