Tropical Smoothie Cafe

I love Tropical Smoothie and I’ve been a loyal customer for years. Lately, though, I feel like the smoothie flavors haven’t been as consistent as before. I usually order an Island Green smoothie and substitute the cane sugar with Splenda. When I asked how much sweetener is used, I was told it’s a 9cc scoop. I requested one and a half scoops because, for the size of the smoothie, it doesn’t taste sweet enough otherwise.

I was surprised when I was told there would be an additional charge of $0.99 just for adding half a scoop of Splenda.
Then I told her never mind and asked her not to add it. When I got to the window, I clarified that I had only asked for Splenda, not extra fruit or any additional ingredients. I explained that charging $0.99 for half of a scoop of sweetener felt excessive, especially since it wasn’t even a full scoop and was only to make the smoothie taste right, since otherwise it doesn’t taste good.

Her response was, “It’s been a rough day. I don’t make the rules in here. That’s the way it is,” and she then added that they have to charge because they also have to buy the sugar. I didn’t appreciate the tone or the way this was communicated, as it came across as rude and dismissive. She then handed me my receipt and straw and closed the window, which made the interaction feel very awkward.

Unfortunately, this hasn’t not been a one-time experience. Almost every time I visit this Tropical Smoothie location, the employees seem to have an attitude, as if they don’t enjoy working there, and it affects the overall customer experience.

Tried another location. It must be the day and age with the workers!! Met with rude service because they don't know how to use their system. Cannot sub an item that is subbed in my smoothie every time I order? That's because the young worker could not figure out where the substitution button is even when I tried to explain it to her. If it let's me sub in their app when ordering, why can't I when I order in person? I order the same smoothie multiple times a week. I will not be back to this location either. Sorry for your loss!
And thank god you stopped letting that lady write godly messages on your cups! It got to be a little tooooooo much and very uncomfortable messages. No other location allows this. Glad you handled that worker. This location needs more help in training! That was made clear from the moment the lady opened her mouth.

I stopped into this location this evening between approximately 6:30 and 6:55 and unfortunately had one of the most disappointing customer service experiences I’ve had with this brand. The store was completely empty of customers besides the two of us. We walked in and stood at the counter for about three minutes a 5 minutes. During that time, all four employees made eye contact with us multiple times and continued walking back and forth without acknowledging us, greeting us, or even saying someone would be right with us.

We waited patiently, but after being overlooked repeatedly and never spoken to, we ultimately chose to leave. Not even a simple “we’ll be right with you” or “thank you” as we walked out.

I’ve always enjoyed Tropical Smoothie Café, but the level of service at this location fell well below expectations. I hope management can address this so future customers feel welcomed and valued.

I come here alll the time and usually have a bad experience with the customer service but the two girls working the drive thru at 6pm today were sooo sweet as well as the guy who worked the drive thru late last night !

The drinks and food are fresh and tasty however a few employees lack customer service skills when you’re picking up orders. I try to refrain from negative reviews but this is the 3rd time I’ve experienced this I’ll be contacting corporate the next time
