It’s a small restaurant so I normally get takeout. They have excellent tacos and they are reasonably priced.

El Alacrán Taquería is just okay. It has some good and bad aspects to it, and unfortunately the bad outweigh the good. It is very cheap (one of the least expensive Mexican places anywhere in this area of Orlando, and I’ve been to almost all of them), and the people working there were friendly, but the food just wasn’t the best and the atmosphere wasn’t great either.

The cabeza, carnitas and barbacoa tacos were good, but the chicken, steak and lengua tacos were not very good. The al pastor was the worst we’ve ever had. The only reason the others tasted good was because they were marinated - I don’t think any of the meat was very fresh, hence why much of it tasted old and bland. They have a salsa bar, but it’s not very nice, and certainly not as kept-up as other Mexican restaurants’ salsa bars. And the tortillas were too thick and tasted almost like cornbread! They didn’t add enough water to them so they all fell apart in your hands… Avoid the sopes - the al pastor tacos and steak sope were the worst things here. But overall regarding food, just not very impressed at all.

It’s a rather dirty-looking place and it’s mind-boggling to me how it got such a high rating on its last health report (check the LifeKitchen app). You walk inside and see dirty, beat up chairs and tables and realize you definitely don’t want to eat here - you only want to take out from here. I walked past the kitchen and saw employees handling very old-looking food. It’s just not worth it to me - even though it’s extremely cheap, I wouldn’t waste my money and I would instead go to places like Don Poncho, La Hacienda or Garibaldi in Apopka, even if they cost a bit more. At least at those places, my money is well-spent!

Came with my wife for lunch. It was a small place that was quite crowded when we arrived.
I had a quesadilla and she had a taco. I like my food kinda spicy. There were three bins of sauces at the counter. The green one was mild. The red once was about as hot as I can tolerate. I didn't try the other one. I probably should have mixed the green and red together.
My wife enjoyed her taco. My quesadilla was good too.
It was interesting the we were the only gringo and gringa there.
We both had large bottles of Mexican coke. They were 500ml. The ones we buy at Publix are smaller.
There was nothing fancy about this place, but it is authentic Mexican.
We'll be back.
