6/13 Update: the za was delicious, appreciate the quick response to my review and explanation from Joeys on my experience. I’ll give it another try soon, maybe different hours.

I stopped by Joey’s Italian Market in Odessa on a Tuesday around 5:20 PM expecting a quick pizza since there were only two people ahead of me at the counter. Big mistake.
I ordered a pepperoni pizza and was told it would be ready soon. Instead, I ended up waiting a full 30 minutes for a basic pizza. The place wasn’t even busy! No explanation, no apology, nothing. Just stood there watching the staff move at a glacial pace while my evening plans went out the window.

Save yourself the frustration and go somewhere else if you want something fast (or even reasonably timely).

I can honestly say, as a NY transplant, here in NPR for over 20 years, you are not going to find anything more authentic than this place. The smell before you even walk in is intoxicating, but it's the food options, the authentic Italian pastries, deli and market items and Frank Sinatra playing in the background that really transported me. The fact that there is a whole butcher area as well with amazing and authentic options (braciole anyone??) Just really sealed the deal for me. I ordered two full meals of items I have not seen on a menu in over twenty years and I was transported back in time to another place. I CAN'T WAIT to try the pizza. It was before 3pm and the place was absolutely poppin. Great to see the success they are having. It is well deserved.

Great market. Enjoyed getting a few slices of pizza which was as good as you hoped it would be. The cookie counter is also excellent and I'm excited to check out their Deli in the future as well. All around a must do if you haven't been here yet.

I write this review with heavy heart, as my family has gone to Joeys since opening. Food was great and staff was great. Consistently there was long term staff. Particularly a dark haired girl who was always super nice to my kids. That said service as of late is not what it use to be. It appears new staff is in who have less focus on service. My family went in on 02/12/26 around five for a pick up. There were two young employees at the counter arguing with each other. My wife asked for her order was told not ready then paid. After a long wait with small child in tow she asked again. Then the order was found as it was sitting there from the beginning and went cold. Then counter staff demanded her receipt to sho she paid. She paid the same person asking. She was not the only one having this problem on this day. I leave this review because I truly hope Joeys tightens it up. I understand the challenges of staffing, but if this level continues I worry business will dry up.

I had a really bad experience here Saturday evening. It was my birthday and we decided to go here to celebrate. I ordered a meal that came with a salad. After two times asking where the salad is, I still didn’t have the salad by the end of our meal. We asked again and one of the girls checked our table like we were lying and trying to get a free salad. Then still no salad. At this point I asked again and one of the girls at the front said they needed our receipt to show proof that we ordered a salad. The salad came with the dinner! The girls were unprofessional and made us feel like we were doing something wrong. The attitude was very unnecessary and not once did we get an apology.

Felt like I was back in New York, the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Will definitely be back soon. The mozzarella is beyond amazing and the lobster tail pastry is to die for. Very impressed!!! Worth the half hour drive.

Their fresh canolies are good.

I agree with the Thanksgiving dinner reviews, don't waste your money. It's not as advertised.
