We chose Mables as an arbitrary place to meet up with friends who were driving across the state. We couldn't have done better. It's a family operated business with great comfort food and friendly staff. We ordered dinner and between the four of us, we had the fried chicken, fried shrimp, and smothered pork chops. For sides we had French fries, Mac and cheese, black eye peas, lima beans, and collard greens. Every one in our party thoroughly enjoyed the food and only one of us was able to finish our meal. The place itself is basic but homey and welcoming. It was well worth the one hour drive to get there. I highly recommend Mables.

I ordered the fried chicken with mac n cheese and okra. The fried chicken was just ok I was hoping for something crispier and d flavorful. The Mac n cheese was good and same for the fried okra. I recommend the key lime cake and coconut cake were both very good. Everyone of very kind and very friendly. Just my opinion but I'm from the PNW so what do I really know about southern food.
The food at Mable's Place is the REAL DEAL! Everything we had was so amazing, we were actually discussing what we might order next time! My husband had the fried chicken with yellow rice, corn bread, collard greens and fried okra. The chicken was simply delicious; juicy, crunchy and nicely seasoned. The collard green and okra were addictive; both full of flavor and perfectly cooked. I had the fried pork chops with yellow rice, mac & cheese, corn bread and french fries. First bite of the pork chops and I was smiling. They were just soooo good. The seasoning, the breading, the preparation; these are most definitely recipes cooked with LOVE! And the sides are homemade goodness. We can't wait to get back for more very soon. Ps...super friendly service and great music playing too. Like I said...this place is the real deal

This is the real deal. Friendly staff and homemade food. We were the only customers at 2pm but the food was fresh and tasted just like my Southern grandma made. My daily special (marinated pork steak) was delicious as were all of our sides and my husband's fried chicken. Portions were large and we would definitely come back the next time we are in town. Zero complaints other than wishing I had more stomach space to taste it all.
