Our family of four enjoyed the variety of the lunch menu ! The service was excellent! From tea to soup to sushi to ice cream everything was delicious! Others had steak or a poke ! Prices seemed high but the value was higher!
We had a reservation. Upon arrival, we were told it would be “a few minutes”, 30 minutes later we were called by the hostess in a very rude manner asking us to “line up against the wall” and follow her to the table, as if we were 5 year olds on time out. Our waitress however, was the best. She was personable, attentive and professional, she really made the experience for us. The chef took really long to come (not sure why) however he was extremely nice and cooked our food to perfection, although he could've used some more tricks for entertainment while cooking as others we've had in the past. Overall, we had a good experience and made the best of it. Kudos to our waitress.
The restaurant was not cleaned as we entered. The staff was very automated and we felt rushed, the soup and salad came simultaneously and to top it off the Chef was very sloppy spreading the rice throughout the table and into our plates and over cooked the rice. Very dry presentation and again he seemed rushed. Over priced meals. Been to several other Japanese restaurants and definitely does not compare.
We have not been to this Benihanas for over a year. We used to go once a month. To be honest, I would have to win the lottery to still be able to do that. You used to be able to substitute rice for vegetables, now I am adding $9 a bowl for fried rice. My mom just wanted the shrimp appetizer and a bowl of fried rice. They charged her $18.50 for 3 shrimp! Added to this, our service this time was not very good. The chef arrived before soup, salad, or appetizers and we had to flag someone down for refills on our drinks. That may be why they are now sitting expensive bottles of water on each table, so you will open and drink them (without being given the cost) because your waitress is nonexistent. Bottom line, the food tastes good but it is no longer worth what they are charging for it.
If you want garlic butter you have to ask for it and there's an upcharge. Meat tastes horrid without it as do vegetables. They seat you with a dinner menu...have to ask for a little much menu to get it. Eaten at Benihanas since 1991!in Honolulu would not eat there again but purchased the cards(200 for free 60) before we knew about changes. Manager either new or lost said you always had to ask for garlic butter....WRONG
Carrie was an excellent server and Nathan was a fabulous and entertaining chef. We loved the picture and wanted to tip him but he never came back around. Wonderful night. Thank you!!
Even though we had a nice food experience, we were very disappointed that we had a reservation, which was for 7:00 pm, we waited over 1 1/2 hours for a table. We went on Veterans Day, when they were giving free dinners to services members, which is admirable, but they definitely under estimated the amount of diners. After the initial 30 minutes of wait time I went to the desk and was told, “oh I'm sorry, it'll just be a little longer” if we had known how backed up they were, we most likely would have gone some place else, but after waiting over an hour, we felt that by the time we got to another restaurant we would have been having dinner around the same time, so we choose to stick it out. They did say they were honoring reservations over walk ins, but we still don't understand why we had such a long wait if there were the case. In all reality we had been to this location many times, but this experience really turned us off to ever returning. Making people wait for such a long time, without any compensation at all made for a dislike for Benihana overall. Our table of 10 was filled with 5 service members, which again I appreciate Benihana doing this for service members but they really should have done better with the reservations and turned away any walk ins. Again the service, once we did get seated, and the food was lovely, but having to wait so long, not so much.
We made a reservation but still waited over an hour. It was clear they had oversold their reservations or weren't holding spots for those who had reserved. When we were seated, they had miscounted and, instead of giving us a different table, they squeezed a chair in. We could barely bring our arms forward to get to our plate and some were sitting BEHIND the chef. The food was alright. Every little thing was an uncharge. The only shining spot was the chefs. They were all very friendly and accommodating. I don't think I'll be back. There are much better teppanyaki restaurants in the area that are much cheaper.
Waited over an hour for our table. Finally left after an hour. People seated and waited for a server for over 30 minutes to take a drinks order. Absolutely would not go there again.
Although the place was PACKED everyone was very polite, friendly and patient! Our server was outstanding and made great recommendations and the food quality was OUTSTANDING!!! We will definitely be back!

We love this Benihana, we always plan to visit every time we fly across from the UK, the food is fabulous and the atmosphere is great. The service was very slow this time it felt like they were under staffed. Still had a fab evening.
Really crowded at Hibachi table. Had to buy drinkable water for $ 10. The other option for water was unfiltered dirty tap water. The Fried rice for 2 was $ 18. Could have fed a village for the cost of the rice. Server made us reach over hot unsafe grill to retrieve our soup, salad and drink. Then returned dirty used items over hot grill instead of going around the table to us individually. Extremely unsafe. Then when I protested, she belittled me and insisted it be done her way because her arms were short. Finally she walked around to me to retrieve a dirty bowl. Not worth the money spent. Never Ever going back to any Benihana!
Absolutely stellar experience at Benihana last night. Our server, Melody (Mel), was outstanding! She was attentive, friendly, and spot-on with her recommendations. I decided to order everything she suggested and she did not miss; every course was delicious. Nicholas, the manager, stopped by to introduce himself and make sure we were taken care of, which was a great touch. We tried the A5 Japanese Tokyo Broil and it was exceptional—beautiful marbling, melt-in-your-mouth texture, and flavor that reminded me of my time in Japan. Our teppan chef kept the energy high and the food perfectly cooked, making the whole meal as entertaining as it was tasty. Great food, great service, great vibe. 10/10—can't wait to come back.
Benihana was honestly quite a lovely experience. I went here with 3 other guests & from the start of the service to the dessert at the end we were all thrilled and feeling blessed at what was being dished out . Drinks & Waygu of the world menu 10/10 😍 would recommend to a friend. Thank you Benihana
We enjoy every time we go to this restaurant. But this time they did forget one customer with us steak, which they brought out quickly and was cooked quickly. But friendly staff, they sat us right away to our seat at a 630 reservation with a party of eight. will go again
