“There was a storm hitting Orlando, but the only dark, grumpy place was hidden inside of my very soul. At Maxine’s you eat vibes, relax on liquids and project your desires into a nirvana of kindness. Mr Maxine made sure to show me his dogs photos, looking forward to prove that it is the coolest canine in the world. Apart from that fail, because Nala Maria has my heart AND a gold medal for the best dog on earth, everything else went smooth like butta. There was a couple smiling, celebrating that they are about to get married, and the girl started to walk around asking elders for some tips about successful marriages. The house sent them a toast of champagne in homage to the new fragrant horizons ahead. It was Sunday, without sun, but it was still a day and that day was filled with joy.”

“Papa Llama, 2840 Curry Ford Road, Orlando- 4-Stars Michelin Recommended- Bib Gourmand! Peruvian immigrants, Kevin and Maria Ruiz, say they founded Papa Llama in 2016 as an experimental pop up and opened the doors of this location in August 2020. In 2022, they earned the Michelin Guide's coveted "Bib Gourmand" award for establishments that serve good food at reasonable prices so naturally, I got excited. Paulina, my server, was well prepared and knowledgeable, making for an auspicious beginning in a gorgeous environment featuring good prices for dishes that could be made to satisfy both carnivores and herbivores alike. I ordered the entire family style menu which was, according to Papa Llama, "designed to be tasted together, shared, and fought over." So much food for just over a hundred dollars. The prices may have been cheap but the taste and quality of (most) victuals valieron un Perú! A hearty Big Boy Thank You (Sulpayki!) to Kevin and Maria and the culinary dactylograms of their ancestors, on this amazing cuisine (Somaq Mihuna!). The first item on the menu was Olives--whole green Castelvetrano olives marinated in house with aji panca--which were so delectable I could eat them all day. Next, the Red + Gold Beets, a minty beet salad with honey ají amarillo vinaigrette, queso fresco, and candied pistachio, which started out smooth and creamy and ended with a pleasantly piquant bite. Papas a la Huancaína followed, a fingerling potato dish with spicy aji amarillo cream, wakatay (black mint) salsa verde, and beef chicharron, topped with a fried egg. The potatoes themselves were not the star, but the combination of flavors in the sauce were amazing, unctuous but smooth. Papa Llama carries a long list of natural wines, more wines than food items, actually. That evening, I chose the Yuzu Sake, and may I say, "Holy smokes!" How refreshing after consuming so many peppers. The rest of the dishes I would give 4.5 to 5-Stars, EXCEPT for the side of frozen Sysco French fries which almost ruined an otherwise stellar meal. There are over 300 kinds of potatoes in Peru. Over 300! Perhaps in the United States we don't have the same abundance as found in El Valle Sagrado (the Sacred Valley) but, por favor, do not stoop to this! The Big Boy says, "Eat here. All the authentic Peruvian flavors at Papa Llama are 5-Star, but skip the fries, which are a corporate conglomerate frozen food disappointment."”

“My wife and were anxiously waiting for this restaurant to open. We went this Friday (May 5th) and were not disappointed. First, the restaurant is beautifully decorated. The ambient music was at a perfect level with a definite South Beach feel. We interacted with several servers and each of them provided excellent service. The menu has enough diversity to satisfy anyone's tastes. To start, we had an appetizer that consisted of scallops covers in parmesan cheese that was melted at the table with a torch. For our entrees, I had a beef dish (Lomo Saltado), while my wife had a pork dish (Arroz chaufa with pork). Everything was delicious. They have quite a few specialty drinks in their cocktail menu. We each had a different drink and both were very tasty. We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience at Piscos and look forward to going back.”

“My husband found this gem online and figured we’d enjoy it since we are fans of shareable and tapas style dishes. Brendan (sp?) was our server. He was kind and attentive. The food options were healthy, fun, and creative. I especially enjoyed the dumplings and my husband devoured his mochi Wangz. We also tried Mr. Rice Guy which didn’t quite give the oomph we were looking forward to. Drunken Belly was pretty decent (a few pieces were a tad too fatty to fully enjoy). We’d 100% go back for the atmosphere and aesthetics alone. Service was phenomenal and the vibes were super chill.”

“Visited JUJU for their walk-in izakaya service. This has been one of the BEST yakitori we have had in the States. A true gem in Orlando. We had the chicken skin, knee, heart, thigh w/negi and the tsukne. From the kushiyaki section we had the pork jowl, couple of times. All of them were delicious, but our least favorite was the tsukune, it tasted like gyoza filling. Skewers were cooked to perfection and the lemon salt that comes with them, compliments the meat really well. We saw a table next to us eat the seafood platter, we asked for their opinion and decided to get own for ourselves. The oysters had such a delicate texture, it almost felt creamy. I had tried uni couple times before and decided I wasnt a fan. But this uni changed my opinion. It didnt have that super salty fishy flavor at all. It was like eating a piece of butter seafood. The aged fish and the caviar/fish eggs bowl was also outstanding. The Pizza hut drink was such a treat too. I definitely want to visit their sister location next time we’re in Orlando. ごちそうさまでした、とってもおいしかったです！”

“If you are considering Michelin in Orlando, please visit this place. The overall experience exceeded expectations. The decor and ambiance is inviting and calm. The staff is knowledgeable and nothing is overlooked. The Chef is meticulous and a perfectionist at his craft, it was a pleasure to see him at work. And the food, well it was superb. At the counter we had a 10-course meal with every dish showcasing the history and gastronomy of his native country. You can also opt for a 5-course meal at the booth seating which encompasses the highlights from the 10-course option.

Nothing is rushed and the team is very friendly while professional. This was a truly special dining experience. Well deserved Michelin Star. The only thing is that the music selection can be more Zen to have a fantastic ambiance.

“Some really good tacos, but the corn tortillas fall apart too easily, and sometimes the meats can be over seasoned. My favorite were the crispy fish tacos. Service was friendly, and prices were reasonable. I'd come back again, but I might try some other tacos spots first.
