I give this place 5 stars based on one thing and one thing alone... their eggplant

Bad nasty service all around, food is average at high prices.....Stubborn Mule is much better down the street. Nasty service and average food shall not last in Thornton, Downtown or Orlando. People wake up and demand quality !!!

Dexter's has apparently changed hands.and the new owners don't get it. We've been going there for over 10 years now but yesterday we walked in and immediately walked out because the music was incredibly loud! Too loud to hold a conversation. Who's idea was it to have a DJ playing dance music at lunch time?! Or have a DJ at all?

First time here and definitely won't be the last. Exceptional service from our waiter Ryan. Dog friendly and I love it! Sat down and got attended right away. Always love a place with good vibes and good service. I recommend this place to anyone who wants great food, and an over all great experience.

Absolutely love this place! They've recently done a full renovation on the whole restaurant and did a really good job, added wood planks to walls and gave the bar a more open feel. The food at this place NEVER let's you down. I've been 20+ times, have ordered multiple things on the menu and I clear my plate every time. Great wine selection as well. Awesome for brunch on the weekends and they serve breakfast items all day during the weekend. When I go for lunch during the week I normally order the catch of the day and the chef kills it every time! I continue to go to this restaurant at least once a month or more. Parking is somewhat tough but well worth the extra effort to have amazing food and the Thornton park charm.

The atmosphere is a bit noisy. They should hang some acoustic boards to assist with dampening the noise. Removing the false ceiling really opened the place up however the sound is amplified. The kitchen was a bit behind but the waiter was accommodating to bring some house chips to make the wait go by a bit easier. The food was great! Our wait was limited by making a reservation. The hostess did a great job ensuring we were seated right away.

Went here for Brunch Aug 23 for my bday weekend well I was in Orlando FL for the weekend and it was great, the food was great and fresh, the mimosas was nice I like the strawberry mimosa, and the service was great. The prices are very reasonable. I Will most definitely recommend this place to everyone I know.

Always good coming here. A bit pricey, but quality is always good and so is service. A nice local spot to hang with the locals.

I've been coming to Dexter's for about 19 years, the Winter Park and Thornton Park locations. I've moved away from Orlando, but like to meet up with friends at the Thornton location. After today, I may never come here again. After checking in with the hostess, she told us that they are short-staffed so expect an hour wait to get our food. We sat at the bar and the bartender treated us like we were a hassle. The place was not completely full and it had 3 bartenders behind the bar. We ordered food and it came out in a reasonable amount of time but a side was missing. The biscuit and gravy was nasty, a old crusty biscuit covered in the saltiest gravy, I've ever had. That item was not edible. The salmon salad, still had the grey skin on, with wilted lettuce. That wasn't palatable either. Several times, we'd ask the bartender for water but she indicated she was busy. She was busy taking shots with the other bartenders behind the bar. We had another friend join us, and her food took a long time. While sitting at the bar, servers were bumping into me, when there was clearly enough space. Luckily, the friend's meal was comped because of the delay and the biscuit was comped too. We still over-tipped the bartender because this group of friends has been in the hospitality business. The women's restroom was not marked with a sign and it was a sauna in there. I'm disappointed in Dexter's. I will never come here again. The food and the staff that waited on us were not up to the Dexter's standard.

A group of 15 of us had a reservation at 11am and we had no idea what we were in for. This was probably the most chaotic dining experience I've ever been apart of. I think we ended up leaving the restaurant 2pm... insane. We booked our reservation a week ago and it is also the day of the big UF vs UM game (both of those teams suck) so you'd expect the restaurant to prepare but.... no. We waited around 45 minutes for our first round of drinks and had to stand up and talk to management for a refill... We were a large group and the entire table had no drinks for around an hour. We resorted to asking them to bring bottles of champagne to the table so we could pour our own mimosas but they asked if we were going to pay for the bottles... WE PAID FOR BOTTOMLESS, let me repeat, BOTTOMLESS MIMOSAS and they had the nerve to ask that. Eventually after we waited another 30 minutes they brought us 3 bottles of champagne to the table. Not because of good customer service management, it was because we had to complain another 3 times! There was a few of us that ordered bloody Mary's and coffees and they had to go to the bar to get them because our server never brought them. Let me just add that we also never got water refills until they brought pitchers around 1.5 hours into our dining experience. Food wise, we waited a very long time and it was nothing special. I had previously eaten here and I had ordered a large veggie burrito and it was excellent so I decided I would get the steak chipotle burrito this time. It was small and very plain. Steak was over cooked and had no real flavor. If they call it chipotle burrito because of the tiny bit of chipotle sauce they serve with it, that's a joke. Overall the service was absolutely horrible but there was a taller white server with a backwards hat that worked there who was really doing a good job. He seemed to be helping out everywhere around the restaurant and cleaned off the empty plates from our table as well. After the absolutely horrible experience we appreciated his work ethic. Oh and they messed up our checks and tried to charge us $20 for the bottomless mimosas (that we had to complain 4 times to get refills) when the price is $12. Lastly, to add more excitement to our chaotic experience... a pipe burst in the women's bathroom so we had a front row seat to water flowing out of the roof and door. This was not their fault but it just made our experience even more surreal. If I could give a 0 I would.

Everything here was excellent from the service to the food. I will definitely be back. I love the area where it's locating and finding parking very easy. It's in a nice spot for walking around and exploring the shops and other eateries.

One of my favorite places in Thornton Park! It's a fun place to bring your friends to brunch or after work. They have a extensive wine list & yummy appetizers - the Ahi Tuna Poke Bowl is my favorite! Jeff is always a great help when I'm having trouble making a selection. Can't wait to come back!
