Disappointing Experience at King Bao

I visited King Bao three times, and my experiences were quite varied, but ultimately disappointing.

First Visit - The firecracker shrimp was absolutely amazing. It was perfectly cooked, bursting with flavor, and left me eager to return.

Second Visit - I brought my husband along, and he loved the shrimp just as much as I did. We both enjoyed our meal, which made for a delightful evening.

Third Visit - Unfortunately, my experience took a disappointing turn. I returned with a friend, excited for the firecracker shrimp, but my order was incorrect. Key ingredients were left out, and I felt let down after spending $30.

The next day, I went back to discuss my order. I hoped for a resolution, but I was met with the same indifferent attitude from a young staff member, an Asian gentleman with glasses and a baseball cap. I didn’t catch his name, but his nonchalant response to my concern only added to my frustration. This is why I felt compelled to write this review.

Given this lack of customer service and the inconsistency in food quality, I will not be returning to this establishment. I hope that others consider my experience before deciding to buy here.

Had some of their 3-for specials. Decent variety of buns, some good some not so good.

Biggest issue is the cleanliness or apparent lack of. Restroom smelled funny as did the back area near the soda machine.

Not a lot of value - spend a lot and didn’t feel that full.

My first time here. I love baos. I wish I knew how to make them at home. I wouldn't waste my time in a place like this. First of my server was Caucasian I assumed it would have been an actual Asian joint. It was easy to order online w. When I went inside it smelled horrible like bathroom. There was no one inside except for three young ladies. It was empty at 5:00 p.m. So I picked up my food and first I see that one of my boas was wrong it was fried chicken instead of the crab cake. I bit into the fried chicken boa and it was disgusting it had an aftertaste and it made my stomach hurt. They are definitely using old unchanged grease back there. And it could be why it stinks inside. The hogzilla was trash braids and I don't know what but it made the pork belly very dark in color it didn't have a distinct flavor or taste just bad The plating was terrible. The barbecue rib was also dark and crunchy on the outside which was kind of strange when I bit into it I couldn't tell if it was chicken or beef it was gross. I went back inside to return their trash and get my money back because in this economy I can't afford to be spending money on trash. I highly recommend you don't eat here. find another place I like Chick-fil-A.

This location was lovely when my wife and I first moved to the Waterford lakes area, but now this place is just so disappointing.
The dining room smells of sour food and rot, the chicken curry katsu and hoisin pork bao buns were salty and foul.
We won't be coming back ever again, and unless you want a stomach ache as soon as you step into the door only to spend $15 and throw $10 of it away, this is the spot for you.

I’m a little bummed out that I am becoming an expert on bad reviews… I am not a picky eater, but I had very bad luck with this place. I ordered several different baos. The pictures look great. Please compare the online picture of the lobster bao to what I was served. I was scared to eat it. As I took my first bite, I was abruptly stopped by a pungent, stale smell. The bao is fried— from the smell of it, in week old, re-used oil and then left out on the counter til aged to perfection. It was rock hard as well. The fried chicken katsu with curry sauce is basically an old chicken tender with about as much curry sauce on it if it were a LaCroix drink.

I was served inedible edamame. It was dry. I mean crusty, cracked dry. I gave up on that, too.

Now, I’m going to go get something to eat for dinner. I had a more authentic experience eating the frozen bao buns from Sprouts than here.

Love this place. Food is delicious! Besides the regular menu, they also have a board with specials. Lots of vegetarian options in the regular menu as well.

Amazing food! Ive visited Mills location and its no different, same good quality of ingredients and freshness. The problem i encountered was with the smell of the place, its clean but the water, mop or i don’t know what they clean with is dirty or smells dirty. In a food place that must change specially in a place where the food is delicious. I wish they had outside seating that way i didn’t have to breathe in that smell while eating. Other than that the place is good and the employees are polite. Please clean the place with clean water and a clean mop or better cleaner that smells good (ex. Lavender fabuloso)

I’ve been a loyal customer at King Bao for a while, often eating there several times a week. I usually ask for extra sauce—it’s what makes the meal complete for me. Recently, to make things smoother for the staff, I even added “extra sauce on side” as my name on the order (something that’s worked fine at other places).

This time, not only was the sauce missing, but when I went back to ask for it, I was charged 27 cents. I didn’t mind paying, but having to go get my card, come back, and then be made to wait again while the employee (a girl with glasses who often seems irritated) slowly fetched it from the fridge just made the experience frustrating and unwelcoming.

I work in the plaza and have recommended King Bao to many people, but this kind of petty customer service over sauce really killed the whole vibe. Keep the sauce—and the business. I’m done.

Fantastic protein quantity! Fun fusion of flavors!

Firecracker shrimp was my favorite out of the three.
