I am a UCF student and left home to attend. Because of this, I haven’t been eating Haitian food very often — only when I visit home. But I found this place and my God — the food is amazing and reminds me of home. It makes me feel more connected to my culture and it’s just so delicious. Plate in photo was $10.95.
I walked in and there was no one even there. Luckily I ordered online and my food was just sitting there on the counter, so I was able to grab it. My food had no pikliz and I couldn’t ask for none since there was no one there. The Akra is not Akra. It’s more like marinade, just flour nothing else, in the shape of akra, lol. The rice was ok but there was too strong taste of Jirof, and the sauce from the turkey was salty. There’s nothing better in the area though. And it is...
I ordered griot/rice and beans platter. It was ok but definitely lacked some flavor.I also ordered the black rice which was decent. The thing that ruined my experience was the legume. That was the worst legume I ever tried so far. It was so sour that I threw away after 2 bites. The only reason I’ll give it a 3 star is because the portion size and customer service was decent (compared to other Haitian spots).
