Not really worth the cute atmosphere. Very long prep time. One and done. Right on par for dining within Universal parks

I am NOT a minions person, but the atmosphere is still fun and the food we chose was phenomenal. Gru's porkbelly sandwhich and the minion fries are surprisingly great and the asian chicken/noodles are incredible with a unique flavor (though could use more of the chicken seasoning on the noodles). Been three times, consistently good.

Not the best restaurant, but a good quick eat when you’re hungry.

The food wasn’t nothing to shout at. My steak and cheese sandwich was delicious, and the minion tots were also good. The atmosphere didn’t feel very “minion”, but it’s the best they could work with. Place was clean, employees were nice, but this wouldn’t be a first choice when it comes to restaurants.

The theming is fantastic, and I appreciated the modern, convenient ordering system. Being able to find a table and order via the app is a nice touch. However, the long wait for food—40 minutes—was a major downside. If you have plenty of time to spare, it might not be a problem, but for us, the wait dragged on to the point where even the air conditioning started to feel uncomfortably cold. When the food finally arrived it was nice but not much else to add.

The place was clean, very cute, and definitely a go-to for Minion Lovers. However, the food wasn't very flavorful. I'm guessing this would be a great spot for kids or adults that don't like/want any surprise flavors in their meals. Unfortunately it just wasn't a win for us. We loved the experience, just not the food.

Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly.

I will break down my impressions into the good and mediocre/bad:

Good:
- The atmosphere/theming. The theming here is awesome and if you are someone or you have a kiddo that loves Despicable Me/Minions, then on ambiance alone it is a must visit.
- The tater tots - love them. They are cute, crispy, and delicious.
-The pork sandwich. It was pretty good. Not amazing, but good enough I would probably get it again.

Mediocre/Bad:
- The food - a really mixed bag. Unfortunately it was not as good as some of these other reviews will lead you to believe, at least not to us. Some items were okay though, so I will probably return again for the atmosphere and try some different things. In addition to the pork sandwich, we had the Otto's Noodle Bowl and the ropa vieja. The former was not good. It was one of the blandest things I've ever eaten. If you like flavor, do not order it. If you like very bland foods, go ahead and order it. The RV, which some people seem to think is really good, was fine. Someone compared it to a better version of a Chipotle bowl. Absolutely not. It was pretty good for theme park food, but I would never order it if I weren't captive.
- The service. This one I am really mixed on. There were two issues here. 1.) As a first time visitor, it was not immediately obvious the protocol of ordering on the mobile app and inputting a table number, which on one hand would have probably made things go more smoothly. I walked in and there is this counter when you walk in and there was a team member there. I thought ok, I will order here. She was not enthusiastic about it but didn't really explain to me how things worked. So, lack of clear process was the first issue. 2.) She took my order, but she just made things very confusing and was not particularly friendly or helpful. She didn't tell me I needed to get a table number so that my food could get to me. I even asked after I ordered, as she was handing me my receipt, "so now how do I get my food", and the person behind me pushed up to the counter and started ordering so she diverted her attention to that guest and I did not get an answer. I was looking around for a pickup window or something. I sat at a table and that is when I saw the numbers and saw food runners delivering food, and I knew that a vital step had been missed. I went back and said "um, how do I get my food at this point?" and she asked for the table number. Then, later I saw the people that rudely cut in to order when I had barely gotten my receipt handed to me get food delivered and thought "huh. They ordered after me so that's curious, and also that looks awfully like exactly what I ordered.." After a while, a team member came up to our table and asked to see my receipt to see what we had ordered and confirmed shortly thereafter that our food was indeed delivered to the party after us. So the second issue was the person who took my order was not communicative, barely helpful, and something must have gotten screwed up and it ended up causing issues on the back end.

OTOH, the people that fixed things for us in the end were very nice and helpful. The person at that counter was not a good representative for the place, while others were. And the manager came over to apologize and made things right.

- The ordering process/app ordering: While ordering from your table is definitely the way to go if you want your food to come out to you, I like to ask for recommendations from a human that is familiar with the entire menu. I tried asking the girl at the counter for tips on what to order, for example, but again she was not too helpful in this arena. But, I would like to be able to say next time I go in, "hey, I was not a fan of Otto's noodle bowl as I found it to be extremely bland and flavorless. Can you recommend something?", and have a conversation with someone who knows the menu and has potentially tried various things.

We were excited to check out minion's Cafe for the first time. Greeted and seated immediately. We ordered ahead so the food arrived shortly after we were sat. Food quality was better than expected at first. Halfway through the pork sandwich I felt a strange texture, then after dissecting the sandwich I found small metal shards within it. I immediately informed the staff and had a manager follow-up. I told her that I felt something stab my gum and likely ingested some of the foreign material. She took the plate and started she would inform the proper people to get that checked out. No further follow-up or offer to replace the food was made. This was a disappointing experience overall but hopefully not a common one.

The atmosphere is good however the first encounter with staff set the tone for the visit. This was our second time trying after a terrible experience last year, well it hasn’t improved. We were seated ordered our food got confirmation and soon our drinks came with a very unhappy staff member claiming she had been calling our table number 412 for a long time and because we didn’t answer we caused her to do double work. No where did it state that we had to go anywhere for our drinks the confirmation said it would be delivered to us. We were confused by this interaction and even asked do we need to go somewhere to get our food or will it be delivered and were told “I have no idea I only handle drinks and you had me do extra work bringing it to you”. Next comes the wait for the food over 30 minutes for two noodle bowls and an Agnes soup which came with a completely disintegrated red dot that can only be assumed to be the so called gummy bear but for $18 I will never know what it looked like. Our food had clearly been sitting the grilled cheese had cheese that wasn’t even warm much less melted. Overall would not recommend unless you want to waste a good portion of your park day waiting for what can be described as “warm” food and bad attitudes.

The restaurant has an intriguing concept where you order via phone, which adds a modern twist to the dining experience. While this reduces interaction with the staff, it allows for a seamless process. The food was excellent my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed every dish. However, our children weren’t as impressed with their meals, despite really enjoying the restaurant’s lively atmosphere. Overall, it's a great spot for adults, but it might be worth considering kid-friendly options on the menu.

The only way you can place an order is through the app, but the app just gives an error.

They are true to their theme. The food is geared to kids but they try to make the parents happy too. We saw a short video saying the café has the best of all food. Makes you wonder who is the debate team that came up with that desion?
