Yesterday, I visited The Modern Bar for the first time. This bar, located in the East Colonial area of Orlando, not only offers a great bar atmosphere but also serves excellent food. It’s a good spot to enjoy some well-crafted drinks while also eating delicious food. The cuisine is apparently Asian-inspired.
We tried several drinks and enjoyed them very much. For food, we ordered the fish buns, veggie buns, pork belly buns, fried rice, shrimp and crab gyozas, and yuca croquettes. Overall, the food was quite good. For bar food, I would rate it a 7.5 out of 10, and I would also give the drinks a 7.5 out of 10.
One thing I would improve is the lighting. I felt it was a little too bright for a bar, and slightly dimmer lights would create a better bar vibe. That said, we had a great time overall, and I would definitely go back to enjoy another night of dancing like the one I had yesterday. The service was also very good.

The Moderne was the perfect spot to host my best friend’s birthday dinner, and the serving staff made the evening very special for her! Our server Lindsey was very patient, attentive, friendly, and helpful! The interior of the restaurant has gorgeous warm lighting and the while the location off Mills Ave isn’t bad, I’d note the only downside being the relatively full parking lot. There is parking behind The Moderne, but I believe only 1/5 of the cars in my dining group were able to find a spot in the lot, where the rest of us needed to find street parking, park at CVS, etc. My group really enjoyed the tapas style portions and took advantage of the ability to sample many items off the menu. I personally loved the Miso Cream Noodle, but the Broccolini and Crab & Shrimp Gyoza was also a big hit with our group! We did try a few different cocktails and although we weren’t too enthusiastic about the drinks we did receive, I have no doubt The Moderne has skilled bartenders. Our server Lindsey was also kind enough to bring us a complimentary shot for a birthday toast which was an amazing treat! I think for dinner service, the main downside was a long wait for those at my table who ordered sushi (I believe they waited close to 30 minutes after most of the main food items had been served), but I doubt that sort of instance is a reoccurring issue and I do know those who did order sushi were very satisfied with the taste! All in all, I’d love to go back to The Moderne and the staff made the evening wonderful for me and my group! Thank you very much!!

First time ever going to this place it was beautiful at the inside unfortunately there was two men working at the bar that told me I need to be seated in order to get food which I completely understood. Once I sat down, no one came up to me, so I figured I’d ask again who would be taking care of us they said someone will come up to you. It was already about 30 minutes…. Then we were told to sit outside because I’ll take your order there. No one told us that they were not taking orders due to “weather” Which it was not raining or anything… I spoke with a lady. I can’t remember her name. She did have tattoos and two pigtails and said we’re just really busy right now and to be honest I don’t have the time for this “conversation” After I dress to her as a business owner, This is super unprofessional of her. She was willing to make things right after being very snarky with me…. I completely get being busy, but there’s one thing to be ignored and to have misinformation by three different people I ended up leaving with only buying one drink probably will never go again… terrible customer service. Security should’ve addressed that the issue will be first walked in the door that there was no seating outside for food. Gentlemen, at the bar should’ve been more clear as to where I need to sit and who is gonna be taking care of me. And the two servers that we’re walking around, not taking any orders and just being very rude should’ve been clear the first time around.

We had a great time here for dinner and drinks on a Friday night. We arrived and were told it’s open seating so basically hunger games to find a table and seat yourself. However, we were lucky enough a server came over to us and let us know a table was getting up and we could have their table right away. Our servers name was Anthony and he was amazing from the start to the finish. He was extremely nice and high energy and seemed to enjoy his job. He gave us some great recommendations and we listened! The crab Rangoon milk bread was okay, definitely should be a dip with toasted baguette slices instead. The duck wontons were okay the sauce was very heavy on peanut butter and tasted like it was just that, peanut butter. The shrimp and crab dumplings were a nice refreshing bite however, it was missing something, maybe some acid. The mushroom bao buns that our server recommended was the best thing we ate all night. Absolutely delicious. The spicy pasta however, tasted terribly off and the flavor profile seemed to be a miss. Overall we did enjoy the atmosphere, service and drinks.

Third time I come to this restaurant and third time I had an incredible time, the food is beyond, delicious, full of flavor and very comfortable. My waitress was Stefanlee and she treated us like royalty, very attentive and very dear! Highlight for the desserts, we tried the yuzu blizz and the cheesecake and what a wonder of desserts. Excellent place, excellent service and excellent atmosphere.

The food was good, but the bar service was extremely poor. I had to ask three times for a single drink, and despite reminding the bartenders multiple times, I was ignored. I ended up waiting 30 minutes while watching them serve the rest of the bar around me. The bartender with a mustache and mullet only acknowledged me once I was visibly frustrated — but even then, there was no apology or accountability. Instead, he brushed it off with, “I’ll make it in a second,” which made it obvious he knew I had been waiting the whole time.
Having worked in food service myself, I almost never tip less than 20%, but in this case, I honestly felt these bartenders didn’t deserve my money. A little honesty and a simple apology would have gone a long way, but instead I left feeling dismissed and undervalued as a guest.
