I visited this restaurant today at the suggestion of my friend who I was meeting for lunch and has been several times. We entered and were greeted right away. He was hoping we got his favorite server, LaLa, and it turns out we did! I can see why she is his favorite. She has good ole southern charm and treated us like family from the moment she saw us- even me who she had never met before. She made sure we were well taken care of and I could see she did the same for all customers. At my friends suggestion, I had the sheppards pie and chicken noodle soup and I was blown away at how delicious both were! They were both hot and fresh and even had some to take home! We also took dessert to go- cheesecake for him and key lime pie for me and both were very delicious! I cannot recommend this location enough and I cannot wait to go back and visit soon!💜

Glad to see they're still doing well! Haven't eaten at a TooJay's in 10 years, and they're just as good as they've always been. Classic pastrami sandwich tasted as good as it did 25 years ago in their Dr. Phillips location and 20 years ago in their Waterford location. I'd say that's pretty consistent! I admit, I half expected to find a struggling, dilapidated chain store after all these years, but was very happily proved wrong today. Their food has always been good imho, and today was no exception. Classic deli favs plus modern comfort food. Yes, deli pickles are a thing. Don't know why someone would complain about that lol. Ours were great. Desserts are good, we had carrot cake today, and have had various others over the years. Server was on top of things, very nice, helpful and attentive. A few too many unbused tables at first, but we arrived just after lunch rush and they took care of all of them by the time we left. I'd like to try some of those specialty cream cheeses they had in the deli case. I think I'll make a habit of coming back sooner...

Inconsistent. 2 Stars more for disappointing manager indifference. 3 stars otherwise.

Tonight was our 2nd visit for takeout in a month. Both times we did an $80+ take out order of the same 4 meals:
— 2 beef brisket sandwiches. Solid choice on 1st visit. Just ok 2nd visit—which mysteriously included weak CHICKEN broth NOT THE BEEF French onion au jus. Called manager about the au jus. His reply: “yep, you’re right.” That’s it. $40 for 2 sandwiches & no offer of help?? Hmmmmm…
— Fish & chips. Again, very good 1st trip. Dry & much smaller portion tonight.
— Spicy chicken sandwich was solid both times.

The service is very nice they're a little confused about the holiday menu versus the regular menu but that could be our fault since we didn't make reservations for the holiday but as usual the food is good love the bread

Lala was our server. I was with a young adult with disabilities and Lala developed a great rapport with her and treated her so kindly. That means the world !!!!
