This place has a calm and chill atmosphere that is welcoming everytime. Tanner is an amazing and friendly guy that goes above and beyond. Great conversation and gives delicious drink recommendations! Highly recommend!

What a lovely atmosphere and friendly staff! The comedy showcases once a month are professional and very enjoyable! So many different things to do each night there it seems. Prices aren’t ’downtown prices’ neither!?

I always have a fun time when I come in. Lots IPAs and Sours on tap and cans. There’s a bit of everything for everyone which I love. If you see Constanza or Raul behind the bar, just know you’ll have an amazing time! Great management too! Joyce, the bar manager, has so much knowledge and she can talk about anything!

You can absolutely tell hospitality is their priority!

LOVE the is place! My first experience at Whippoorwill was to meet up with a friend and to my surprise it’s a sweet gem. If you are looking for a place with a good vibe, nice interior with great music and a good glass of wine, this is where you want to go. Great place to work remotely out of too!

One of my favorite spots in town with a great selection of beers and wine. Hard to go wrong. Bartenders are always friendly and helpful. I try to come as often as I can. Can’t recommend enough!

Great hidden gem in the Milk District. Only happened to stop by as I saw some people walking in. Would of loved if they had more food offerings, yet the addition of a food truck was great.
Had Raul as my bartender. Charismatic, energetic, and a down to earth guy. Definitely a change of pace from any other venue. He actually talks to you and is genuinely interested in having a conversation.
Would 130% recommend this place to my friends, and you hot a customer for as long as you stay open. That is if the service is up to this lvl.

I used to love coming to Whippoorwill. It had a chill atmosphere, the bartenders were cool, and it was a nice place to come and destress after work.
In my most recent visit, the vibe was VERY different than what I was accustomed to. I came with 2 other people and we had each ordered an IPA from two women that I hadn't seen before behind the bar. They were tripping over each other, talking over each other, and both attempting to take all 3 of our orders at the same time.
When we told them what beers we wanted, they asked us to tell them what number on the menu it was then proceeded to ask us to repeat ourselves multiple times while running back and forth to the taps, grabbing random glasses, then forgetting our number and asking us again. After a few attempts of this, they still brought us completely different beers than what we had ordered. My friend was even given a stout instead of an IPA. We did not correct them, as we were already pretty stressed with the hassle of ordering the first time around.
Once we got our beers, they kept asking us it we wanted to try any samples of anything on the menu, which I thought was a little weird, considering that I already had a drink in our hand. We ended up moving to a table across the room because the two of them stressed us out so much.
Again, I used to love the ambiance and overall vibe of this bar. However, if untrained bartenders continue to make it so impossible to order a single drink, I don't know that I will continue coming.

Edit: I want to be clear that I do not know any of the bartenders personally, so I’m not entirely sure on which friend you are referring to. If the new bartender has been working for 20 years then they should know how to pour a beer and take a simple order. I actually had left this review a few weeks ago on yelp but it appears to have been deleted, which is the only reason why I felt the need to additionally post this to google. I find this response to be extremely unprofessional

I have no idea what the new owners of this place are thinking (probably they are not thinking at all) but they bought a place with a pre-existing staff and customer base, decided they don’t understand what a bottle shop is and proceeded to do everything to run it into the ground. The old bartenders have all left and have been replaced with the new owners nieces and nephews, or whatever relative they decided to hire, who in fact do not even know how to bartend. In addition the previously bartender-curated playlists that would play have seem to be replaced with internet radio - WITH ADS! Ignore the older reviews for this place. While they were once accurate it is unfortunately not the case. Take your business elsewhere.

Cool place with weird vibes ! The actual place is really nice it has a lot of room but I’ve gone twice and something doesn’t add up I don’t know if because music or the vibes I don’t know this place needs more happiness imo you’re paying 6-9$for a beer not to be depressed
