We had a nice dinner here! It is cute and romantic. The noodles are sooo tender and you can tell they pay attention to high quality ingredients.

UPDATE 2026: im back to update my review! Actually I thought the food was even better than the first time we came, they've clearly been improving their menu. We really enjoyed our dinner, deliiicious! We got the fried chicken, crab salad, and i had the tempura shrimp udon soup. All of them were so good I finished my whole plate! Definitely coming back

Underwhelmed. The udon and the soup taste… unique? Like I can tell it’s different from the supermarket stuff but… not sure if I actually prefer this? Also the main noodle comes with no toppings at all (except for sauces/pickles), so it gets monotonous very quickly unless if you get a ton of side dishes, which add up to the bill pretty quickly. Shrimp tempura was well made. Service was very slow. Nothing mind-blowing.

I got a few things, egg salmon roe thing, some diced chicken in some mayonnaise sauce, the gyoza, udon with sliced beef and girlfriend got udon it wagyu…. Nothing wowed me. Idk what was the hype about but this was all very bland basic.

Zaru is an absolute gem. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by Amy, who made us feel genuinely welcome. That first impression set the tone for the whole experience.
The staff was friendly, attentive, and happy to help with recommendations. The food was amazing, fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. You can tell they take pride in what they serve.
If you’re looking for great Japanese food with excellent service and a warm atmosphere, Zaru is definitely worth a visit. We’ll be back. And next time, I’m coming hungry again.

Two weeks ago, I tried Zaru for the first time with one of my close friends and we immediately fell in love with the food! We both ordered Nikutama Udon with a side of shrimp tempura, and chili oil. The noodles were cooked to perfection, the broth was super flavorful, and the side of tempura flakes added the perfect amount of crunchiness to the dish. Seating is a little tight, but we made it work. The staff played great throwback R&B music, which took me back to my childhood. The feeling was very nostalgic as we could not stop singing and dancing. After visiting Zaru, I completely understand why they are Michelin rated! 10 out of 10..highly recommend!

Zaru was amazing! We both got the Wagyu udon bowl, with an onsen egg which was to die for btw, i got sweet potato tempura & ikura roe, my partner got the onsen egg & mushroom tempura.
The place has such a nice vibe, its like we walked into little japan :) You're given a paper menu to mark off what you want, all around, amazing stuff!

Excellent food and service and accommodations for vegetarian/vegan. The sake cocktails were also delicious. Friendly staff and good atmosphere, small seating area though so we had a bit of a wait. Looking forward to returning

I loved this place!! What you eat, what you see, what you hear, it's the perfect combination!!
I highly recommend this place to come with your significant other. The eggplant was my first favorite, chicken namban was my second favorite. Everything taste fresh!!
We came on a Saturday before 5, no waiting time.

Excellent service, great atmosphere and nice food. We had a hour long wait and while the food is good and the portions decent, it did not justify the wait. Global was good and tempura shrimp, shishiedo, mushrooms were among the best. Okra could have done with a little longer fryer time. The udon noodles were phenomenal had the broth been better this would have been unbeatable.

This restaurant is Michelin-listed, which honestly surprised me.
If this level qualifies for such recognition, then countless udon shops in Japan would easily deserve three stars.

The food was very far from authentic Japanese Sanuki udon and dashi.
It may work as a modern or fusion-style dish, but it is not traditional Japanese udon.

Service significantly affected the experience.
A staff member with long black hair appeared visibly annoyed from the moment we arrived. We were waiting outside but were not acknowledged or guided, and before closing time we were made to feel rushed.

While we were still eating, cleaning started right next to our table, which made us very uncomfortable.
Overall, both the service and the food did not meet expectations.

Probably one of the only udon noodle spots that specializes in udon in Orlando. While the pricing is a bit high for udon noodles it seems like how a lot of “specialized” Asian spots have been now.

The food is very good but if you eat a lot you might want to order extra noodles or meat.

5/5 Stars - Cozy Udon Haven!
Tucked away right off of Colonial, this little gem serves up the most slurpable udon I’ve ever had. The broth is rich and flavorful, noodles perfectly chewy, and toppings fresh as can be. Cornucopia of textures in each bite! Friendly staff and intimate vibe make it feel like home. Highly recommend for a quick, satisfying meal!
