The best German food I have ever had at very reasonable prices. We will find our way back to Ormond Beach from New England just so we can eat here again. Our server Paul was wonderful. Oh and the sauerkraut soup?
Although I've lived in the area off and on for several years, tonight was the first time I tried this Restaurant. First impression upon approach, this place needs some serious sprucing up, and the front door could use some scrubbing and a coat of paint. The interior is a throwback to times when it was cool to look pseudo rustic with antlers and stuffed deer heads which had not been dusted in years. A sign on the wall asking patrons to be patient because of being short on staff. True. One sole person working the front of the house, serving and busing. An interesting menu which had been taped together with electrician's tape! My dinner companion ordered Jägerbraten while I decided on Sauerbraten. Both dishes were similarly plated with Spätzle, red cabbage, some garnishes and the resp. meats which were invisible under a large pool of sauce. The Bratensauce (gravy) tasted like it came straight from a Knorr pacandage. The sauce on the Jägerbraten had finely chopped mushrooms and tasted bland. The Spätzle must have had aversion to being boiled in salted water and lacked any flavor. All in all, a very disappointing experience.
What a wonderful dinner tonight! Delicious Schnitzel with the mushroom sauce and yummy perogis ! Paul was also so friendly and helpful!
We had a very good dinner here. Awesome authentic European food. The pierogis and home fries were especially good. It’s a very small place so I would call ahead for reservations. We got our food to go. I highly recommend.
Though very small in size, flavor, taste and presentation is HUGE! Very homestyle cooking, flavors and presentation. Large selection of different preparations of schnitzel, all the customary accompaniments. Our party of 4 sampled the Bavarian Chicken Schnitzel, and Sauerbraten . Took home some apple strudel. Portions were very generous. Everything was cooked to perfection and served hot. Reservations HIGHLY recommended. I think there were only about 7 if not less tables. The restaurant is very small. Cultural music playing added to the overall ambiance of the place. You really are transported to a Bavarian village. Extremely authentic cooking.
In 2021, was our 1st visit to the Schnitzel Haus. We entered the establishment. There was no host or hostess stand. Upon entering, we stood, stood and stood. Eventually after about five minutes, a man who appeared to be the owner, approached us. No greeting what so ever. He asked if we had a reservation, to which we replied no. The restaurant was mostly empty. He told us that the next reservation opening was after 7:30PM. We were there at about 6PM. We walked out. The rudest reception ever in our over 50 years of dining out. We will NEVER return to the Schnitzel Haus. We will be at The Rhein-Stube in Daytona Beach instead. Very friendly service and great food. To bad we never had a chance to experience the Schnitzel Haus.
Extremely quiet and peaceful environment with thoughtful and professional servers. The restaurant itself has a very comfortable feel on the inside. Now for the food, it’s completely out of this world. I haven’t tasted anything like it ever since I was little at my grandmas house. Would highly recommend to anyone.
Felt like eating in someone’s home. Lots of personal attention and the food is made with love! It’s delish!!!Sauerkraut soup blew my mind.Veal and bean stew my dad got was amazing.Wiener schnitzel was gigantic and delish s. Apple strudel…yum!
Spectacular and charming old world German restaurant with extremely well prepared dishes that are full of flavor. Soups are home made and delicious as well.Small space with just a few tables so make a reservation and you won’t be disappointed. My wife and I have been to many different German restaurants. This is one of the best.
This is the BEST authentic German restaurant around central Florida. It is a small restaurant and I highly recommend making a reservation. The Riesling wine is superb and there are numerous choices of beer. The Wiener Schnitzel was so large that it covered the entire plate!! It was so delicious and reminded me of when I was in Germany.I would highly recommend the chocolate cake. It was served with ice cream and a large portion of whipped cream. It melted in your mouth and was the end of a perfect meal.
Restaurantji Recommends
Recently ate here while on vacation, and it was far and away the best meal we had on our entire trip. I was able to put in a to-go order over the phone and the food was ready in a very reasonable time, and each bite of the meal was incredible. We got the Schnitzel a la Matterhorn and Cabbage Rolls, and we could not have been happier with the meal. For sides, we got home fries and chicken noodle soup, and I was so very surprised at the amazing care that went into the sides' preparation as well. The entire meal was carefully and perfectly crafted. The restaurant itself is charmingly decorated, and I look forward to dining-in on a future trip. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough; a truly perfect meal.
Enjoyed the potato pancakes, lentil soup and chicken noodle soup. Wurst platter, Jaegerbraten, wurst platter and Gulash were all very good. Spaetzle was great. Had a lot of food, brought extras home.
I changed my 5 star rating to 1 star. Used to come here often.Google listing says open till 9. Called to verify, was told open till 9. Took a $20 Uber to eat here. The hours on the door say open till 9. Walked in a 8:15 and were told they stop serving at 8. Why say your open till 9?
This is a very small restaurant (about 6 tables) so I highly recommend a reservation. The staff is extremely nice and the food is fantastic! The friend I was with said it reminded her of the last time she was at her cousins house in Germany. Be prepared to go in hungry and walk out with boxes. If you are someone more interested in the look of a building do not waste your time as their focus is truly on treating you as family and serving you a great meal. The inside of this building will make you feel like you have returned to your grandmother's house and not a chain restaurant which I loved.
We arrived at 5:15 on a Saturday nIght and were seated right away. The two staff members were outstanding, as well as the food! We had the goulash, meat lovers plate, and pork schnitzel. All three plates were amazing, as well as the cheese ball and chicken vegetable soup that came with the meal. The portions were generous, with plenty of leftovers. The food was fresh, and probably the best German food we've ever had! We'll definitely be back!
