I've been dying to try this place since we first rolled into town. Wow, was I in for a disappointment. The ambiance is super cute, but the floor feels like a greasy crime scene. We were greeted promptly by the General manager, who was super friendly, attentive, and helpful - she's the real MVP. The cocktails she whipped up for us were pure bliss. But, the food? More like food for thought... on how to do better. We ordered the Crab Claws Ramen-Guine, which was a total letdown. The crab claws were overcooked, tasted like they'd been frozen since the Clinton administration, and the bread was burnt to a crisp. And don't even get me started on the ramen broth - it was MIA. I mean, if you're gonna name-drop ramen, you gotta bring the goods. We also ordered the Curry Chicken Katsu Bao, which was a flavorless flop. The chicken was not as exciting as a Tyson chicken tender, and the slaw was a sad, saucy mess. I'm talking serious underwhelm here. Needless to say, I won't be back. There are way too many fantastic eateries downtown to waste my time on this place again.
We spent $76 here this evening. The crab claw pasta was decent but the crab was overcooked. The boa chicken buns were the best thing we had there. The chicken ramen lacked seasoning but it was a huge bowl. The beef ramen was like warm at best.
I’ve been to hole-in-the-wall absolutely delicious to 3 Star Michelin and this is the first time I’ve been served rancid meat, like bad bad, so bad it didn’t taste like beef. It’s so hard to serve bad steak, but somehow it made it past and out to the guest. ( I blame the head chef and the owner)
Avoid!
IDK how this place is on the AMEX plat Resy, but don’t come here.
Service and drinks are fine (we had hot sake… hard to get that wrong).
The seasonal drink was par.

Friendly service, but overall very mediocre. We had the fried eggrolls and the chicken ramen bowl which was lacking in overall flavor despite the number of ingredients. The prices are outrageous given the portion sizes. No plans to go back.

If I could give more than 5 stars to the staff and especially the chef, I would. We had someone in our party with some extreme food allergies. The waitress went above and beyond taking the time to ask the chef details, then the chef came out with a dish he wanted to prepare that would be allergen free and made especially for us. I was so impressed with the extra mile and caring they took to make sure that everyone in our party enjoyed their meal. The special made dish was amazing, along with the rest of the food. We appreciated the extra care and will definitely be back!

I really wanted to like this place. I’d heard great things about 86 Forks and had been looking forward to finally trying it. Unfortunately, my experience fell short ... and not just a little.
I ordered the duck bao buns, which should’ve been a highlight. Instead, the first one came out over-steamed and tough... hard enough that it was obvious before anyone even bit into it. So those buns had been sitting a while because they fell apart when touching them. The waitress was kind and brought a replacement quickly, but the second one wasn’t even duck. At that point, I just wanted to eat something and move on.
What really killed the mood, though, was watching a sous chef come out of the kitchen. His appearance was… not reassuring. Dirty towel, gloves still on, touching doors, chatting with the next table, then heading outside to vape ... still with the same gloves and chef coat, which is relly not cool... and then walking right back into the kitchen. Same gloves, same small tear on one finger. My dinner companion, a longtime chef herself, whispered, “Say a prayer over your food.” Not exactly the vibe you want while eating.
To top it off, I ordered a Coke and was handed a tiny bottle of Mexican Coke for $3.50 .. no glass, no ice, nothing. A place with a full bar couldn’t manage a simple fountain drink?
Our waitress was polite and attentive, but the overall experience just didn’t match the reputation. Between the food missteps and the kitchen hygiene issue, it’s not somewhere I’d feel comfortable eating again... which is a shame, because I really wanted to love it.
If I could give this place 6 starts I would. The food was absolutely incredible. I'm an incredibly picky eater & rarely eat the last bite of any meal but I finished off three of the five things my husband & I tried. We ordered the duck fries, crab claws ramen-guine, curry chicken katsu bao, a small side of the kimchi potato puree, & the Thai tea tiramisu. The fries were salted to perfection & had some amazing dipping sauces that were even better when mixed together. The ramen was creamy & delicious (exactly what I'd been looking for recently), & the Thai tea tiramisu was completely out of this world & had me wanting another. The bao was a little salty for my taste but still quite tasty & while the kimchi potato puree had an excellent taste, the texture threw me off a bit. Overall though, excellent experience with some incredible kind & helpful staff. If you're looking for something adventurous, definitely try this place out. (Unfortunately, both my husband & I forgot to take photos because the food was sooo good! 😅)

First and last time dining here.
I’ve been wanting to try this restaurant for quite some time, and we finally stopped by during Gallery Night. Unfortunately, it was a major disappointment. I ordered the beef skewers, and they were so tough and chewy that I couldn’t even eat them. They were also extremely salty, and the flavor was just off overall. The only positive part of the experience was our server, who was excellent and very attentive. Sadly, that’s the only good thing I can say about my visit to 86 Forks.
