I had a really nice visit at Ruby Slipper. The fried green tomatoes are a must, some of the best I’ve ever had. They were perfectly cooked and really flavorful. The beignets were also good, though a bit smaller than some of the others you can find around Pensacola.
I ordered the catfish and grits, which I was really looking forward to, but it ended up being a little underwhelming for me. The dish was very rich with the salty, buttery catfish and the creamy grits, but it could have used something acidic or fresh to break up those flavors and textures.
That said, it definitely wouldn’t stop me from coming back and trying something else on the menu. Overall it was a good experience with great ambiance and friendly service.

Ruby Slipper is one of my favorite spots to eat. The food is always delicious and me and my family are always treated just right. One the best parts is being greeted by Keayonte. She always goes above and beyond to make me feel welcomed!! Theeee best!

This place is for folks that likes sticky tables, and dirty greasy dishes. Met a friend there for breakfast. My arms were sticking to the table. The plates were dirty and greasy. After giving me three dirty plates in a row, waitress got a little attitude. My salad had dark green slimy greens in it. I'll never eat there again.
We love coming to Ruby Slipper, the food is great but lately the service has been what brings us back. Chelsea has been our server the last handful of times and she is amazing. Super attentive, down to earth and it always makes our experience better!

A Flavor Symphony in a Historic Setting!
Located in a building steeped in Pensacola history (the legendary Trader Jon's site), the Smashburger here is a masterpiece of balance.
The Burger Experience:
The First Bite: The charred aroma of the double smashed patties mixed with melted cheddar is an instant hit.
The Second Bite: A perfect balance of juicy beef, savory oil, and a touch of sweetness from their signature sauce and red onion.
The Symphony: The third bite brings it all together. Unlike many American burgers that are overly salty or sweet, this one highlights the high-quality, natural beef flavor. The fresh tomato and pickles provide a clean, refreshing finish.
The Details:
The only downside was the fries—a bit too salty for my taste. However, the relaxed, unhurried vibe of the staff and patrons makes this the perfect spot for a leisurely brunch. A must-visit on Palafox!

Don't show up at 7am. Staff is grumpy and miserable....not happy with their employment. Move on to 😊
