It was a lovely first time visit. I am in the neighborhood and walk by it often, but this was the first time to actually go in. I would LOVE to give it five stars and it was ALMOST there. The atmosphere is lovely: clean a few nice outdoor tables both in the sun and in the shade. The staff was beyond nice: friendly warm and helpful. The prices were fair. AND THE COFFEE WAS WONDERFUL. I had the dark care mocha latte and it was smooth as proverbial silk. EXCELLENT COFFEE. It would have been perfect except I think I certainly ordered the wrong thing. I see people commenting on how good the pastries were. I am not a sweet person ordinarily, I like savory things. I ordered the chicken empanadas: MISTAKE. Now, I love empanadas. I have had them from Colombia, Argentina, Mexico and Ecuador. Sometimes they are spicy and sometimes a bit sweet (with onions and raisins) I like them all. This empanada was really bad. I am not joking. I cannot remember having a bad empanada. What as wrong: the dough was SO THICK. If you ever eat a real empanada, the dough is kind of thin and the filling full. This was all dough and so so thick that it was gummy and just all dough. The filling was meager and dry. Instead of juicy it was dried out chicken with no flavoring or sauce, just a slight taste of curry. The entire empanada was left on the plate after one bite. I love this adorable neighborhood place and I will be back. I am really not an injustice collector. I really wanted to be able to say five stars, instead of four or four and a half. As I said the atmosphere, service and coffee were top rate, but whoever made those empanadas should really find out how to make them. I will trust the other people who posted reviews and order one of the pastries next time. Sorry, but I really loved the time I spent here, but disappointed that the whole empanada was left on the plate. I am sure the pastries are a lot better.

Great for style and atmosphere, very good coffee and presentation, nothing to write home about, but still a place I'm going to be at again and again... As I love coffee houses with good food and sofas !! A great addition to the central Broward community.

I literally live in the apartment building that shares the same parking lot as Helena’s. At first I thought it would be great to be in walking distance from a coffee shop but as it turns out their pastries are limited and mediocre at best, plus their coffee is nothing special. Lastly, I can’t count how many times I’ve asked them to make my latte less hot because I have a sensitive tongue, but since they don’t use a thermometer when steaming the milk I always end up with scalding hot liquid. I’ve actually gotten burns in my mouth before after foolishly trusting them to make “not hot” coffee.

The coffee was great! Didn't even make it back home. But the pasteries were amazing! The scones could have been alittle sweeter, but that's just my personal preference. Most definitely going to be coming back here when not at work.

The non coffee drinks here are pretty good but the overall customer service and food is a no. I got a Avacado toast breakfast sandwich and to my surprise it came with cold boiled eggs instead of the typical scrambled. When I went to the cashier to ask kindly if I can get scrambled eggs - I got a weird vibe and slight attitude when she said “no” from the worker so I just left it alone. This is my second experience here not liking their food(it’s very bland). Compared to other local cafe’s minutes away that serve a better overall experience I personally wouldn’t recommend here.

It’s a cute place, but as someone else pointed out… it’s odd that a coffee shop doesn’t smell like coffee. Once I got my order I realized why. The coffee was probably the one thing I wouldn’t order again, but the food was decent. The star for me was the spinach empanada (sadly the chicken one lacked the same impact). I would definitely go back for it!As for the pan de bono, which the employee at the counter claimed to be “brazilian bread” (not true, not even the same recipe), was very bland and favorless. I’m not sure if they’re trying to sell one thing and are marketing it as another, but I hope they’re able to fix these things as the place is very cozy and inviting, and the service is phenomenal.I might go back to try the other pastries, as they looked pretty decent. It’s a solid 3.5 stars at least.

Got the nutella croissant and iced chai tea latte. I have tried chai lattes from a million different places even in other countries and none of them have ever beat starbucks. Starbucks could never come even close to their chai lattes and coffee. Their pastries were also some of the best I ever had. I really wish I lived here. I might move 10 hours just to go here. I would probably go broke since I would be coming every morning. Definitely try this place is you want a good coffee or pastry. Their smoothies are also amazing.Dietary restrictions: They have many vegan and gluten free options. They also have all sorts of different milks for their coffee.Parking: The parking spots are right in front and are many spots.Kid-friendliness: Many kids in there and have milk and juice as well as more basic pastries for kids.

Neighborhood coffee shops are popping up in every suburban town. On a rainy Sunday morning; we decided to give this spot a try.Just walked in when they opened for business we ordered two coffees - cappuccino and latte - as well as two pasties- pan de bono (Colombian cheese bread) and a Nutella croissant. The coffee was spot on - very flavorful. The pastries were decent. What sets this place apart is the friendly service. So many times I have walked into a place sleepy and in need of caffeine and I get the barista with an attitude not wanting to be here. Not this place - extremely friendly, polite and got the order the first time. The place is very cute with two lounge sofas and plenty of tables as well. It's a hit and will definitely come back!
