The ambience and decor is outstanding. The service is great and the live music was enjoyable. The cocktails were really good, we had the lychee martini and her name is violet. They have local draft beers, I had Cigar City maduro which was bomb. We started with apps, deviled eggs & blue crab beignets which were phenomenal. The entrees is reason I gave 4 stars. I had the chicken with a side of collard greens. While the chicken was well cooked & moist it lacked soul (not much seasoning). Same goes for the greens, bitter and really needed more seasoning. Wifey had the shrimp and grits and again it was cooked well but lacked seasoning. Overall had a good night out.

We waited, it seemed like forever to get anything, drinks, food, the attention of the staff. Extremely understaffed. The food came out cold and was not enjoyable. I wouldn’t recommend.

Parking: Went for brunch. The Monte Cristo is a MUST have. The deviled eggs are very good as well. The portions are plenty. We spent $250 for a couple out of which $160 for a few drinks. One carafe of sangria is $55 alone and we had two unbeknownst to us of the price. When you’re having a good time you don’t pay attention to the price. If I come back I will come back for the food and not the drinks.

Also want to give credit to our amazing waiter Pierre for his attentiveness and service ! They had live music and the musician was great and very interactive with the customers ! Definitely recommending and coming back !

Tried South Bar and Kitchen for the first time last night.Negative: I was serve undercooked chicken and although they corrected the error, I feel they should have comped the food portion of the meal. But I wouldn’t recommend them because they had no seasoning. The tequila flight was under-poured, less than 1 oz as listed.Positive: Great atmosphere, all of the staff was attentive and professional!

Absolutely loved this place. It was our first time checking this place out, party of 6. The food, drinks, service, ambiance... everything was perfect. The manager was so sweet and helpful when we asked to move our reservation from inside to outside on a Saturday night. She had our table outside ready within 20 minutes. Highly recommend the deviled eggs, boudin balls, short ribs & grits, and the PBLT. Cant wait to go back!!

Lovely outdoor area surrounding a sprawling Banyan tree. If you want a quieter, relaxing experience , choose outdoor seating. If you want a more city vibe, choose indoor seating. Service was excellent and the food unique. Overall, a great place to enjoy with friends and family.

My friend and I enjoyed ourselves at South. After two days of rainy bleak weather it was a joy to sit outside and be served. Staff were great, enjoyed the music, and our meal was delicious. Congratulations on a beautiful build out and contributing to Old Pompano! May South Bar continue to prosper.

First time to South Bar & Kitchen and we had a great time. Food and drinks excellent and our server Christine was super. Loved sitting on the back deck with the live music - it's really a perfect spot for a night out.

Three of us went with high expectations, given the wonderful restaurants that this group owns and operates such as Canyon. The ambience is excellent as this is a very beautiful restaurant. The banquets and seating are comfortable, the room is beautiful it's large and inviting, and even the bathrooms are clean and well designed. The service was all right, and, as it turned out, the server, and the manager were very responsive. Once problems with the food arose, and I must say they handled them in a very good way. That said, about the best that can be said about the food is that was inconsistent one friend said that his gumbo and burrata were both delicious, as was the sweet potato casserole. The Caesar salad was generous enough to share, and was all right, but the dressing seemed very much on the bitter side. The shrimp and grits had creamy grits and large shrimp, but only three of them for 30 something dollars, and was served with a sauce that wasn't bad, but seem to be tasted by the same chefs palette that dressed the Caesar, good enough to eat but not good enough to come back for. In a whole other category, where the collard greens which we sent back. They were not only in edibly bitter, but very poorly, trimmed, so very unpleasant to eat. The fried chicken came out nice enough with a very golden brown batter that was in fact, crispy and delicious. However, the chicken was inedibly raw inside. I don't mean pink, I mean. We sent it back. and $23 for a half fried chicken when Joe Stone sells the best fried chicken in South Florida for $9.99 and theirs is cooked through and made from chickens 50-100% larger makes me question the pricing here as well. The manager did remove the two entrées from the bill which was the appropriate solution. She was very gracious about it. I don't want to talk people out of going here and trying it because some of the food items were good and the place is really pretty, but they need some discipline in that kitchen.

Food was delicious! I had the Southerner Salad with grilled chicken. Might be the best salad I’ve ever had! So flavorful. My son had BEC biscuits and loved it. The hash browns were to die for. My daughter loved the chicken & waffles.Gorgeous ambiance, yummy drinks, and the service was excellent! Can’t wait to come back!

Sat out on the patio under the banyan tree. Great vibe, guy playing guitar, nice drink menu. I had the miso salmon, best salmon dish ever. Served on quinoa, shitake mushrooms, shishito peppers and Napa cabbage. Also had blackened Mahi sandwich with remoulade sauce on brioche bun with shoestring fries. Cooked perfectly. Alyssa was our friendly server. Highly recommend..

Food was incredible as expected. I've been fortunate to dine at all of Mike Linder's South Fla restaurants and they never disappoint. Had the Georgia salad with grilled shrimp. My husband had the fried chicken sandwich (spicy style). We were with a group of friends and we even got the biscuits -- highly recommend!
