This place gets better every time we go. The host, person that brought us water, and the waitress were all extremely nice. I finally tried the filet and they gladly substituted sides. This is the best Italian restaurant ever!

I was really disappointed with my experience at Al Dente’s in St. John’s, and unfortunately it started the moment we walked in. We arrived expecting a normal wait to be seated, but instead ended up standing at the front for about 30 minutes. For nearly 20 of those minutes, there wasn’t even a host present at the front desk. No greeting, no acknowledgment, nothing. We were standing there clearly waiting, and no one made any effort to let us know what was going on. What made it even more frustrating was that there were open tables visible inside the restaurant, so this wasn’t simply a matter of the place being packed. It seemed more like a breakdown in basic organization and customer service. The servers also wouldn’t seat anyone while the host was gone. The worst part came toward the end of our wait. Even though we were at the very front of the line after standing there for half an hour, a group that had just walked in was taken ahead of us. The host looked right at us, then proceeded to seat the new group first anyway. After waiting so long without acknowledgment, that felt extremely disrespectful and honestly unacceptable. I understand restaurants get busy, and waits happen but ignoring guests at the entrance, leaving the host stand unattended, and then skipping over people who have been waiting the longest is not a good experience and not how customers should be treated. For prime dining hours on an early Saturday evening, you would expect their A-game. Unfortunately, it felt like they’ve gotten complacent compared to when they first opened. I was really looking forward to dining here, but based on how poorly the seating process was handled, I’m not sure I’d return.

Food was good. However we waited 75 minutes from order to receipt of our dinners.Waitress said they were busy,but that is not our fault. To top it off some of the dinners were delivered cold. Overall a disappointing experience. Lastly the dining room was extremely noisy. Spent about 45 per person

Food was pretty good but wait time was insane. Was waiting for over an hour for the food after we ordered. SUPER loud in the resturant, can barely hear the people across from me. Wouldn’t come back.

We had reservations for 5:30pm on a Monday night for 4 people (2 adults and 2 children). We arrived 10 minutes early and were seated immediately as the restaurant was not busy. Our orders were taken by 5:30. Everything seemed to be going great. After waiting an hour and still not having our food I asked our waitress why our food was taking so long. She said the food would be right out. I waited another 10 minutes and informed the waitress that we would be leaving if our food wasn't out in 5 minutes. We watched two other tables get seated after we ordered our food, both of which received their food while we continued to wait. The waitress then said our food would be out in 7 minutes. After waiting another 8 minutes, and still not receiving our food, I requested our check for our appetizers and informed her we would be leaving. She brought us our check and we paid for our 2 appetizers and left. Never did she provide any apology or explanation for why our food was taking so long. Needless to say, we won't be back.

We were a table of seven for dinner this past Saturday. The food was excellent, entrees and appetizers all very much enjoyed by all. I had the short rib with mashed, which I definitely recommend.

We were also quite impressed with our server, Kat - super confident about menu questions, very attentive without being intrusive, and she telegraphed upcoming item deliveries very effectively, without us needing to ask. Excellent service!

My wife and I shared the Rovicial chicken and the Calabrese. Also an antipasto. Didn’t care for the greens but the dressings were all homemade and delish. Serving too high for one sitting. Will enjoy tomorrow for lunch
